RE: What Did You Learn Today?
Then you should consider yourself *really* lucky, that you weren't born in the good ol' days when everything was *natural*, men were men, women were women and if we were lucky, we could hope to live to the ripe old age of thirty... unless, of course, you were a woman and died in childbirth at about 14. But kids start having sex so early nowadays, not like in the golden olden days, screw vaccines, GMO's and civilisation in general Dodgy

Where was I... ah, yeah, if I remember correctly, the last person to die of an infection, before those godless scientists came up with yet another unnatural poison, antibiotics, died from being poked, as you put it, by a rose (is it me or does this sound slightly... nah, it's me...)

Oh, but I've been waiting forever to share this with someone Big Grin

ETA: Also, the pearlfish, which "typically live inside clams, starfish, or sea squirts, and are simply commensal, not harming their hosts. However, some species are known to be parasitic on sea cucumbers, eating their gonads and living in their anal pores."

How did that Monty Python song went again?

RE: What Did You Learn Today?
About the Venus flower basket:

"In traditional Asian cultures, this particular sponge (in a dead, dry state) was given as a wedding gift because the sponge symbiotically houses two small shrimp, a male and a female, who live out their lives inside the sponge. They breed, and when their offspring are tiny, the offspring escape to find a Venus' flower basket of their own. The shrimp inside the basket clean it and, in return, the basket provides food for the shrimp by trapping it in its tissues and then releasing wastes into the body of the sponge for the shrimp. It is also speculated that the bioluminescent light of bacteria harnessed by the sponge may attract other small organisms which the shrimp eat. In Japan they symbolise the idea "till death us do part"."

As I might've mentioned once - or a dozen times - before, transparent/translucent critters are so cool!

I also learnt that the lovely, lovely expression "cum gutters" is called "roads to happiness" in Portuguese. Facepalm As I have also mentioned more than a few (hundred) times, am sometimes ashamed to be a woman, honestly...

I learned that when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth, all of the continents were connected in one big supercontinent.

I learned what a glory hole is.

Weeping

Or rather I learned that my kid knows what it is.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

I found about it on an atheist website about 11 years ago. I had heard about the actual practice from before that, but hadn't heard it called that until then. Kids get an education from the internet, that's a fact!

Surely it's an invention of the porn industry though right? I mean... it looks hell of a unhygienic to me.

Today I learned that the Inca had a God that was my favorite animal. Urcuchillay, the Llama God.

Need to think of a witty signature.

RE: What Did You Learn Today?
I apologise profusely... no, bad choice of word. I do apologise in advance, but after starting to type the TTA address in Cyrillic one too many times, I happened to notice that the Cyrillic letters I type apparently have a sexual meaning...

... chocolate glazing. Which, apparently, is a Russian slang for
anal sex

Seriously, did I really need to know this? And did I really have to share it with you? [Image: th_shakinghead.gif]

Most probably not. But misery loves company and all that mousse
