RE: What Did You Learn Today?
I learned that when you are house shopping...its possible to pull up to a TOTAL STRANGERS house that is for sale, start up a conversation and end up getting a tour of the ENTIRE house as well as learn all the details about the owners divorce (he's an alcoholic & got the riding mower in the settlement), motivations for selling (to be with elderly parents in the next state over), all about the neighbors (some are dentists, police, teachers, etc). Make friends with the doggies, etc, etc.

yep...total stranger- she was pressure washing the driveway when I drove by.

About Linear B and Alice Kober.

"In the search for clues, Kober learnt a whole host of languages - from Egyptian to Akkadian to Sumerian and Sanskrit. She set out to record the frequency of every symbol in the tablets, both in general, and then in every position within a word. She also recorded the frequency of every character in juxtaposition to that of every other character.

It was a mammoth task, performed without the aid of computers. In addition, during the years surrounding World War II, writing materials were hard to come by. Kober recorded her detailed analysis on index cards, which she made from the backs of old greetings cards, library checkout slips, and the inside covers of examination books."

The article is longish, but really interesting.

Pardon me, if someone already posted this idea, because I'm a little slow.... and lazy.

Most people who insult are describing part of themselves, but are putting you there instead.

I resent that. We're nothing if not straight-laced.
