What are your thoughts on communism?
Hello,

I'm not a veteran in this forum, so I might be classified as a crazy person for immediately starting off with a topic this fragile.

My question is: what are your thoughts on communism; how do you view it politically and philosophically?

NOTE:
Try to be objective. There are a lot of subjective topics concerning this and I don't want to turn the thread into a warzone.

I'm skeptical of communism just like I'm skeptical of ultra-capitalism. Both are wrong and we can do better.

It might work for small groups who are united in some belief system or promote a project. Politically for large groups, it will never work.

It works for me.

Bureaucracy is its undoing. There are Apps for that now.

Any one who sticks to any "ism" is bound to be disappointed. Humanity is too fucked up for that.

Atheism is NOT a Religion. It's A Personal Relationship With Reality!

Agreed!

It's out of the current topic but it's proof of concept: Neil deGrasse Tyson on "ism"

Bucky has it exactly.

The Soviets used to have a saying that exemplified how communism works (if you call it "working")

"They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work".

Another one was "Let George do it" --- which meant that some poor schlub would be picking up the slack....

It doesn't work in practice and it's a horrible idea in theory to begin with.

The only possibility is an -ism that will unite us all regardless of our differences. This is my opinion.
