What did the Hippies ever do for us?
In response to whinging from Dom and Machiavellian manipulation by DLJ, I've been inspired to start an inquiry into what Hippies have contributed to our society.

Just a few ground rules here (to keep Baba Bozo happy):

1. Baba Bozo can keep the fuck off this thread.
2. Quips are actively sought and encouraged
3. I'm prepared to accept any definition of "Hippy" you like (so feel free to include "New Age Travellers" , if you like).

(Any similarity of the title of this thread to a scene in some Monty Python movie is purely coincidental).

Hippies ruined tie-dye shirts, which is fine by me. Thumbsup

It is said that they were 'colour blind', and their stereotypical clothing certainly proves it.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

The more obscure, the better. For example...

They ruined a traditional Swiss breakfast food (muesli) by asserting it should simply have milk added and be eaten straight away, removing a layer of skin from the roof of your mouth in the process.

(Muesli should be soft, having been soaked in milk overnight).

Nah; pour some hot water on 'em, drown it in milk and eat away.

They seem to have contributed acceptance of sex.
Just sayin'.

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

Hmmm.....do you mean casual sex or "free love"? After all, sex had to have "accepted" before any of them could have been born, no?

Mutual enjoyment of sex, maybe? Not feeling guilty about having sex, maybe?

The Peace Movement. We can all see how well that worked out.

OK, I'd phrase it as being able to celebrate sex, right?

Our first clear hippie apologist, yay! Smile Dom will be pleased.
