Already regretting that last one.

You're harvesting early. Must be zone 8+. I planted a ghost pepper. Don't know what I'm gonna do with them.

My son gave me a pickle made from 70-80% ghost peppers, I love hot sauce etc but this stuff was beyond funny it was literally a chemical weapon disguised as a condiment, 1/4 teaspoon on a salad had me literally running round the house in total agony unable to do anything, I couldn't breathe at one stage it was so bad.
A 1/8th of a teaspoon spread thinly on a cheese roll gave an intense but pleasant burn, this jar of pickle is gonna last a long time that's for sure.

Yeah, I know it probably sounds hilarious but actually being serious it wasn't at all, it was a truly horrific and very very unpleasant experience that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Unfortunately there's no way to describe it without it sounding humorous, but I'm stubborn I'm determined to use the whole jar no matter how long it takes. It was a gift from my son so therefore I love itWink

Ugh, why if it's giving you that type of reaction? I would think it's one of those things you cross off your list and go "Meh, tried it."

Actually we're harvesting a little later than usual this year on most things. Weather has been a real bear with everything from hail (twice) to heat/drought to drowning rains. Inconsistency is making nearly all my tomatoes crack. The dragon pepper is the hottest pepper I've ever planted. Plus I didn't pick it until it had turned red. Best I can tell by the maps I am in zone 7b. My lettuce has all bolted, second planting of red radish only got three before they dried up. Swiss Chard is done. Poor year for yellow squash and zucchini, quantity-wise. Butternut squash are maturing very well now. Every variety of peas died. Cucumbers are suddenly slowing down. Which is probably just as well since we had so many last year that I had to learn how to pickle them. Who here knows what I mean when I make reference to "Aunt Bee's pickles?" Mine made hers look like prize winners. Some of them were bad enough to make you cry.

Last year's garden was much better than this year. And the Japanese beetles are having an orgy everywhere now. We went and looked at a job about 6 or 7 miles from here today and their roses were "et up" as we say here. Strangely enough in my garden they seem to prefer a specific clump of marigolds. I guess it's a soft bed for their orgy.

Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?
