I've never had chives do that before. My pineapple sage wintered over too and is huge now. And the catnip wintered over and got so big I had to dig it up out of the veggie garden and move it to the middle of the yard. I didn't think it would survive the heat that week but it rallied.

Someone gave me some chocolate mint a few years ago and it tried to take over the whole garden and yard. Apple mint sounds intriguing.

Tonight was the first time in weeks that no part of supper came out of the garden.

I have all my herbs potted on the patio. I always let some chives got to seed and they keep on giving year after year. Most of my herbs overwinter. I think the only one that doesn't is parsley, oh, and basil. Mints need to be potted. The apple mint is my least fave, and it is the only one that jumps the pot.

RE: What did you eat today?
Toast and jam for breakfast.

Made an iced latte for an after-gardening drink, using some homemade cold-brew coffee concentrate.

Went out for a hot coffee and a pastry while shopping this evening.

For supper I had the last serving of some lamb stew I made late last week, with a pilsner and potato chip chaser.

I'm sorry, but your beliefs are much too silly to take seriously. Got anything else we can discuss?

Shredded and lightly boiled for 3 minutes they have a delicate flavour and pleasing texture they would combine with stir fried tofu in hoisin sauce or just garlic and soy sauce. You need to grow your own though shop bought are just not worth it and will have you saying what the hell is that useless wanker adey talking about.
They are perhaps the most susceptible vegetable to storage, you don't eat the beans themselves you eat the pods in Britain they are the most home grown vegetable because imported they are rubbish, home grown divine. I always freeze some and we have them for Xmas dinner, they freeze really well.
