RE: What do you call your meals? (Breakfast, Dinner, etc)
Breakfast lunch and supper. Dinner is the same as supper, but the word "dinner" is usually reserved for a more formal evening meal. For example, last night I had spaghetti for supper. Last weekend we had thanksgiving dinner.

My step dad calls lunch, dinner. And for him too, it was usually a large, cooked meal. He grew up on a farm, and says that's how it always was for them.

Oh, and round here, the call to come eat is, "SOUPS ON!!!"

Just visiting.

Depends who I'm talking to.

The French: petit-déjeuner / déjeuner / dîner / souper

The English: Light breakfast / Actual Breakfast / Lunch / Supper

I don't know how 'Actual' got stuck in there. I try to curb it to just 'Breakfast', but have failed to the amusement of friends.

I usually call the evening meal dinner, but my extended family usually calls it supper. Growing up, lunch was called dinner if it was a more formal occasion, like an after church celebration or holiday.

How about the word "Luncheon"? That always seemed like a strange term.

For me, luncheon has simply meant "meeting for lunch", as in, "hey, let's plan a luncheon for fathers day!"

I don't use the term myself though. I hate luncheons. Drinking Beverage

Lunch is just an truncated version of Luncheon. I will say that while supper is generally the name of the evening meal in my parts it is dinner for a grander affair, for example Christmas Dinner, which goes back to my "Dinner is the largest meal of the day" comment.

What do you feed the cat? Make sure you get it fattened up while it's still young to ensure it's tender.
