If you do not believe in God, start listing the things you believe in.
Here's a list of things I believe in:

Vos,
Although I too hold largely the same beliefs, I cannot imagine how you can hold the fourth one on your list.

Are you insane? Where's your evidence?

RE: What evidence would convince you of the existence of god?
I don't think I could be convinced by much except an appearance by God himself. I'd imagine James Randi would be pretty good at negotiating some suitable tests for him. If he wins the million bucks, I'd say it has been proven well enough.

As rational as I like to think I am, I'm sure I could still be swayed by evidence that's technically less than sufficient. If a being appeared to me and started telling me things that were profound beyond my imagination, I might start to believe. My first thought would be that I'm hallucinating, but I don't see any reason to believe that I'm any less vulnerable to being fooled than anyone else. If I'm already hallucinating, who's to say I'm in control of all my other mental faculties?

Isn't the evidence obvious? Just look around you with your eyeballs.

Here's a link to some info just to get you started

I used to say that if he stopped "working in mysterious ways" and just stuck his heads through the clouds and told us all to listen up, but then I heard about some crackpot idea called project Blue Beam, so even that won't suffice now !

If god appeared to me, and me alone, and performed no enduring or testable miracles, I would not consider that compelling evidence, and after the experience would likely seek a psychiatrist. It's too easy for the mind to be fooled or to conjure hallucinations.

If god appeared to me and several other skeptics of sound mind in an environment where a hoax or mass hallucination seemed unlikely and performed substantial miracles, that would be more compelling, but I would still be very skeptical until his supernatural powers could be tested.

I finally got it though. I know what would convince me to drop my heathenous ways and become a god-fearing, bible-thumping Christian.

If god/Jesus appeared to me in the flesh in front of a dozen other skeptics and performed a substantial, enduring, and testable miracle for each of us that would be compelling. A substantial, enduring, and testable miracle for me would be if god were to cure my poor eyesight and give me 20/20 vision. I currently cannot read my computer screen or a book from 18 inches away with my glasses off. If god cured my nearsightedness that would be a substantial miracle which would presumably endure beyond the encounter, and which could be easily tested by going to the nearest optometrist and taking the wall chart test. Jesus cured the blind all the time, and I'm only half-blind, so this shouldn't be too hard for him.

SO I BESEECH THEE O MIGHTY LORD, CURE MY EYESIGHT SO THAT I MAY SEE NATURALLY WITHOUT THE AID OF GLASSES OR CONTACTS, SO THAT MY VISION BE SUBSTANTIALLY AND PERMANENTLY IMPROVED. DO THIS FOR ME AND I WILL DEVOTE MY LIFE TO YOUR WORSHIP AND YOUR GOSPEL AND I WILL LIVE A GOOD AND CHRISTIAN LIFE ACCORDING TO THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS AND THE BIBLE. THIS I SWEAR. AMEN.

I figure that's about as sincere as I can be. If I wake up tomorrow with 20/20 vision (or even a close facsimile thereof) I'll become a Christian. Bowing If not, well... Drinking Beverage
It is impossible to deny Existence. If God is Existence as warranted by the vastness and complexity of the cosmos, then it is impossible to rationally deny a God that is defined as Existence.

Good job, you can construct a conditional statement. Now demonstrate for us why your statement is the case and is something more than just a subjective interpretation of the universe. Drinking Beverage

That's one of the silliest statements I've ever heard/read. Are you sure your name isn't Egor? Consider

Lets try this instead:
It is impossible to deny Twinkies. If God is A Twinkie as warranted by the vastness and complexity of the snack cake group, then it is impossible to rationally deny a God that is defined as A Twinkie.

Or, with less seriousness:

It is impossible to deny Existence. If the Universe is Existence as warranted by the vastness and complexity of the cosmos, then it is impossible to rationally deny a Universe that is defined as Existence.

Hmmm...nope, not rational to make up your own definitions to just to pretend there's a god because it makes you feel happier. Consider

It was just a fucking apple man, we're sorry okay? Please stop the madness Laugh out load

All interpretation involves subjectivity. Are you asking me to defend the notion that objectivity is possible?

RE: What evidence would convince you of the existence of god?
I'm asking you to explain why we should agree with the statement "God is Existence." You gave the implications IF that is the case, but you have failed to provide evidence that supports your argument. You state it is impossible to deny existence and then extrapolate from there to state that God exists because God=existence. What evidence supports that conclusion?

I don't think any of us here deny existence, we just hold existence to be what it is: itself. No reason to attach the god moniker to it.

It looks like another thread has spilled over into this one.

Imbarre,
Please don't be messy.

Thanks
