RE: What gender?
ok, Hi Ryan and welcome, I haven't met you yet.
Now I would like you to read through the first post, because (and as I said several times in this thread) I am not talking about chromosomes or genitals. Read through it a little to understand what this whole thread is actually about Smile No offense intended.

I consider myself as a dyke stuck in a mans body. Which is pretty convenient!

RE: What gender?
I worked with a woman who became a man. He turned out to be very nice and went through hell in the steel mill. I think I was his only friend there. He got married and they had kids (some how)? But you must except people for what they are. If a person is a good person that was always good enough for me. My sister is gay and is married now to a nice woman. I never asked that question about rolls. I figure it is privet and should be between them. So if your heart is right go for it. Just remember their is no turning back.

History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a
free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their
political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their
own purpose. ~ Thomas Jefferson

RE: What gender?
Leela is gonna be better than a she-male, let's go with a he-she =p No breasts and no penis allows for the least uncomfortable body type available ~_^

the term she-male of course is generally considered highly derogatory for those who don't know. It was coined by the porn industry and most of the photographed she-males are guys who had breast surgery.

Full transition is something much less common in FtM than it is in MtF. There is an operation called a hysterectomy (coined because it makes women less hysteric) where they remove a large part of what being a woman is about. Having this surgery stops most of the internal female problems, and of course removes the danger of having children. Since genital surgery is still within the prosthetic stages there is a certain waning. They can excise some of your ass and grow a penis out of it, but it's still not the same as the serious growth of a penis (the possible future change may come from stem cells since they can grow organs). So for enough MtF's there is no need to take this "fake" step since in public if you have to be prepared for someone to stear or brush against your body there are easy fakes such as a rolled up sock to prove you have a penis =p

The hysterectomy is currently the best procedure to attempt to reach true androgeny since you do not increase your maleness while removing your femaleness. It of course is still a huge procedure and more a loss than a gain in the basic views of humans. But this procedure along with an easier legal option for sex change makes it more common for FtM's to find a stopping point where they don't need to go that extra step.

RE: What gender?
I didn't know about that procedure and didn't look it up, yet, but if I get it right it is pretty much taking out the womb and so on? So there would be a huge bunch of hormones that are simply not being produced anymore.
No? Gonna look it up.
And I don't think that I will ever have a surgery like that, not only because I simply can't afford it, but because I am not even sure I am transgender.
I am currently searching but not really finding. I found lots of videos on youtube of people vlogging about their ftm transitions, giving all kinds of updates, on their breast surgeries and testosterone and about how people deal with them and how they are doing. It is very interesting and in some of the things I do find myself.
But for me, there is no gender I guess.
The closest term for someone like me that I found was "tomboy". Someone here posted it and someone else reacted weirdly to it, I thought it through, and I would not take offense at someone calling me that.

RE: What gender?
A hysterectomy is not particularly a transsexual procedure. It's primary use is excising cancerous cells. It also of course is a pretty good deterrent of cervical cancer (complete removal =p). Yes removing a large portion of your female parts will alter hormone production and without supplements you'll go into menopause if you haven't yet. It removes periods and the possibility of babies (though you can still get hormonal flux like a period if you choose to take supplements). Oddly enough this procedure is not generally suggested for FtM's who are getting genital surgery. The film "southern comfort" looks into an FtM who gets cervical cancer after having had a procedure to make a penis.

Yes you have the basic idea of what the procedure is, sorry I didn't leave a link to it. Here's a good little introductory video for gender that I've used in enough of my college talks. It has someone who discusses themselves as genderqueer which as a term in itself is something you should probably look into. Gender is one of the toughest things to have an issue with because people are so used to being comfortable with it. It's even more difficult to discuss than religion because at least with religion this dualistic culture doesn't persist. The surgical options available are very interesting to look into, but if you are in need of them you'll know. To get most any serious surgery there must be an excessive medical condition or you will have to be proven to not be crazy. One of the worst things about the hysterectomy is that it is not given to children under the age of 16 in any case. there are plenty of stories of young women who get cervical cancer and have to deal with constant surgeries when there would've been a single operation that could have stopped all the pain. Like abortion people generally don't think things completely through. Even after being unable to have a child anyway people find it wrong to remove all that seems to make a girl female in order to prevent horrendous pain and constant medical procedures. These sorts of things are the most difficult decisions anyone can make because if anything will make you a pariah it is denying your gender.

RE: What gender?
Thanks for all the participation and thoughts on the thread.
Special thanks to Erxomai and LilithPride, you two helped me a whole lot!! Thanks for your support, really!!

I was really confused about gender identity and sexual identity.
Now after researching this topic a whole lot for the last few weeks, or at least 2 months on my specific questions that I had, I feel a lot better. There was a lot of input here in the thread, as well as a lot of websites, that I found, a lot of videos on youtube about the topic, and Erx and Lilith, who gave me tons of help and useful information, brainstorming and so on in pm.

I am now officially not confused anymore Smile hooray!

So anyway, thanks for your patience, guys/gals

No surprise there, Lilith is one of only a few on the planet who would have specifically useful insight into this. Erx, on the other hand, ... Consider

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;

Sorry I haven't gotten you a forum yet Leela, I never found one I liked but trying to get the info on a friend's trans site they moderate.

Also sorry i didn't mention genderqueer earlier not sure if you liked it much but it's a good breath of fresh air to have a simple polite way to say FUCK BINARY!!!!!!!
