Love is a form of a brain activity.

RE: What is LOVE?
From a psychological perspective regarding close personal relationships there are two ways to define love Smartass :

1.There are two different types of love:
Companionate love is the intimacy and affection we feel when we care deeply for somebody, but also do not experience passion or arousal when he or she is around.
Passionate love is an intense longing for somebody else accompanied by physiological arousal. When it is reciprocated, we feel great fulfillment and ecstasy. If not, we feel sad and desperate.

2.Sternbergs triangular theory of love:
According to Sternberg love consists of varying degrees of intimacy (= feeling close and bonded with somebody), passion (= the arousal you feel towards somebody else including sexual attraction), and commitment (= two forms, a) short-term = that you love that other person; b) long term = the will to maintain the love and stay with that somebody).
(For a discussion see: Aronson, Elliot; Wilson, Timothy; Akert, Robin; Social Psychology; Pearson Publishing)

But of course this barely scratches the surface of it Dodgy.
Try wikipedia to see what I mean Chase.

RE: What is LOVE?
My mind is automatically jumping to the bible verses in Corinthians that start "Love is gentle, love is kind..." Granted, that is only a description and not a definition. It also kinda contradicts what I know of God when I read through the rest of those two verses....

Ok, shutting up now. Just thought I'd lob that in there.

RE: What is LOVE?
Love is a word that implies a deep connection between two people.
That's my personal explanation, anyway Sleepy

Humankind Dodgy (a total misnomer)

khushko,
Given the section that you have posted in, it would help us to help you if you stated the reasons for asking your question.

Meanwhile, in memoriam....

... is a deception.
We are merely chemistry.
Love makes us master chemists."

Judging by the other thread where he was searching for atheist girlfriend he wants some love.

RE: What is LOVE?
According to H. L. Mencken

"Love is the illusion that one woman differs from another."

and

"Love is the triumph of imagination over intelligence."

Or according to Plato

"Love is a serious mental disease."

Or according to Lords of Acid

"Love; love is the answer

When I think about love
don't think about bright moons
twinkling stars
red wine
silent whispers
holding hands
secret love letters
I'm thinking about pure sex, deep sex, hard sex, rough sex"

My views on Love tend to be more closely aligned with Lords of Acid... Yes

"I feel as though the camera is almost a kind of voyeur in Mr. Beans life, and you just watch this bizarre man going about his life in the way that he wants to."

-Rowan Atkinson

Science tells us love's a chemical reaction in the brain:
