And cranks like Ellis and Atwill project what they want, and only find what they want, and only see what they want. That's why they are cranks...

Takes one to know one.

Richard Dawkins promoted Atwill. That makes him a crank too then?

Ill-informed perhaps. Dawkins is an evolutionary biologist, not a biblical scholar. Grow the fuck up. Dodgy

He has been called the most intelligent man in the world...but to you, hey, he's ill-informed. If that fits your world view, then, hey, who are we to argue with you.FacepalmFacepalmFacepalmFacepalmFacepalmFacepalmFacepalm

He is an intelligent man in general, and well informed in his field in particular. Does being intelligent in general and having a specific specialization in one field of study make him infallible in another field of study he is not well versed in? Do I need to spell that out for you dumbass? Apparently I do.

Now go sit down, and let the adults talk. Drinking Beverage

RE: What is the more likely explanation of Jesus?
There are some people who go to atheist forums and they are actually Christians who are trying to make atheism look bad.

They tend to create dissension by using lots of swear words, they display a complete disregard for other poster, calling them names, they engage in racial epithets, calling "jesus" a dirty Jew who is of no importance.

They shoot down any "theory" calling it crank and crackpot and stifle free debate because no one wants to feel they aren't part of this "in" crowd who judiciously use the "f" word.

Go fuck yourself, and you can take your insinuation and shove it up your ass.

I'm either the best POE on the fucking internet, or you're a goddamn credulous retard. I know which one I'm betting on...

Also, Atwill and Ellis don't even get to 'theory', they each have shit 'hypothesis'. Carrier and Price both have much better arguments for actual theories that fall outside of the mainline historicity of Jesus.

And it had better be good because of this.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

Interesting you post something by Thomas Verenna. He never made it past second year of a BA at Rutgers. I'll stick with RD.

The fact that there are a lot of similarities in the lifelines of JC and Titus F. doesn't make the person who found them a "crank".FacepalmDrinking Beverage

He left Rutgers because he was a part time, non-traditional, out of state student; and Rutgers kept yanking his chain and fucking him over academically and financially. Now do you have another stawman effigy you'd like to attempt to light, or can we move past your pedantic bullshit?

No, what makes them cranks is their refusal or inability to get anything they do vetted or peer reviewed by relevant academic professionals; then to sit there and cry 'conspiracy' at the world of academia for not taking them seriously. They see these connections to the exclusion of everything else, ignoring facts that do align with their preferred conclusions. That's what makes them cranks, and you a fucking moron too credulous for your own good.
