When I'm about to wish someone a happy birthday, then Facebook pops up with the birthday reminder. Now I can't wish them one because doing anything Facebook orders me to do is against my religion.

I kind of like being able to show off whatever it is I've got going on. I want it to be heard across the street. I'm totally with you on the fan though.
