Finished a weekend of training in Vermont, stayed most of Monday to catch up on admin stuff without distractions, then drove 4 1/2 hours back home to transition right back into night shifts at the detention centre without stopping to sleep. Praise Buddha for caffeine...

Hi,

Rant warning.

Our local Subway eateries have stopped doing New York deli mustard. They used to have it under the counter but now there are just the 'Subway' mustards.

WTF! How can we be expected to eat a beef and cheese without yellow mustard for God's sake. Evil_monster

I've had to buy a bottle of NYdelimustard to carry with me. Drooling

Adapt.

The problem was that in anticipation for a bedtime of approximately 1 hour after the end of my shift, I rationed my caffeine such that I finished my nalgene bottle full of iced coffee at my 9 hour mark. Upon finding out that my shift was being extended, I had no choice but to run down to the Tim Horton's in the hospital and buy...

The solution for this is to kick the habit. Sacrilegious, I know. I'm down to two cups a day, and if I am not careful, get the shakes. This is a far cry from 20 YA, when I used to drink 2 to 2-1/2 pots of high-test, as in twice as strong as most people drink it. I quit cold turkey back then, and was a complete zombie for 3 days.

Fireball and yakherder,

Its bad news drinking too much coffee. No

The good news is coffee is the only effective replacement for alcohol. Yes

Been a lifesaver for me, if a little jangly.

I am Bored...BORED

Bored, Bored, Bored, Bored, Bored, Bored, Bored

I have an 8 hour work day and only about 2 hours of work to fill it with.

And I'm surround by old people doing things the old way. Two years ago I took over this accounting position from a 77 year old that was finally retiring after doing this job since the mid-70's, and still doing it like it was the mid-70's, pen & paper & calculator. I was horrified. There was a computer on her desk but I don't know what the hell it was doing there cause she clearly never used it. So I immediately started automating whatever I could and took on more and more work to fill my day. My employer was so impressed they gave me a 10% raise at the end of my first year, I was actually embarrassed at the fuss.

Spring, & Fall is busy enough to fill most of my day, but July & August I'm dying here.

One of my cats does this weird thing (what cat isn't weird though?) where she starts nursing on her own toes when you get her purring. I imagine it has something to, do with being orphaned as a stray when she was like one week old hiding under our house.

At any rate, I made the mistake of petting her before going to bed. Now she's sitting on the bed sucking her toes so loudly I can't sleep. I have to wait 5 or so minutes for the purring to wear off.

When I had a cat he would sit on my shoulder and suck my earlobe.

RE: What is your latest first world problem ?
I'm upgrading the front brakes on my 3/4 Ton truck from drum to disc. It has been a struggle the whole way, and the parts aren't even all that rusty, like in other areas of the country. It took two times to order one of the removal/installation tools. I already had an oxyacetylene welding rig, so I was able to get most of the rest apart by simply melting the steel. But the installation tool doesn't fit my parts, so it's back to the plumbing supplier for some serious sized pipe (3") fittings that I can grind to shape and use. The auto parts stores don't have the right tool. I'm confused as to why that is. Huh Anyway, one of my tasks before I retired was designing and building tools, so I will adapt and overcome. Smartass If it wasn't for the fact that I am saving about $2500 on this, I'd be pretty pissed. Ain't my first rodeo. Maybe I'm just getting old. Dodgy

I *had* a server issue at a remote location but I got it sorted today.
I had driven to the location Friday and rebuilt it with new drives, and fired off a job that would take 2~3 hours to run and drove home.
Saturday I found it id not do what I wanted.
