What kind of flower is this?
I've seen them my whole life and always wondered. They grow wild everywhere around here. They're a pretty cool looking plant.

Not a plant guy, but my money is on an orchid. Do you have wild orchids there ? Will await confirmation.

Go to a library and pick a herbal book. There should be pages with colored edges according to the blossom color. So you look up red pages and then go by the photographs.
There might be an online herbarium somewhere, but you'll have to search according to your area.

It's a kind of lily - I have Surprise lilies like that in my yard - but they are pink rather than red.

I would say yours are more of a Spider Lily of some kind... I'm sure they must include spider or dragon in their name.
