What nonsense claims did you used to believe?
Greetings,

I think it's fair to say that in our lives we've all believed something nonsensical. Not just religious claims, but the kind of stories that the History Channel seems to makes a living off of now. I'm talking about cryptids, alien abduction stories, ghosts, demonic possession, extinct animals living in far-off countries, psychics, and tarot readings. The X-Files essentially.

Personally, I used to eat up e anything about cryptids. Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Mothman, Mokele-Mbembe, chupacabra, and all those fantastical beasts. I shall admit, albeit with much shame, that I only stopped believing in these beasts around four or five years ago. But if I am to be shamed, I shan't do it alone. So come all ye faithless, come and speak of your own credulity.

I used to believe that time had to work in the ways I felt it should, such as being linear, and there being "one true universal time". I discarded this dogma relatively recently when I realized scientific evidence was not supporting this, and it was really just an argument from incredulity.

I have a website here which discusses the issues and terminology surrounding religion and atheism. It's hopefully user friendly to all.

I used to believe Americans would never vote a dumbass in as president.

And then they voted in Bush and Trump...... so you were doubly wrong Tongue

Edit^ I find it disturbing that Trump can make Bush seem smart in comparison....

I used to believe in von Daniken's rubbish. I was only 15 at the time.

I'm not sure about Santa Claus. I'm pretty sure he's legit.

Nothing quite at that level, though I've bought into fitness and nutrition quackery before.

I used to believe organic produce was more sustainable and environmentally friendly than conventional produce. I used to be afraid of GMOs. I was into raw milk for a while. I used to be a Matt Furey cultist, practicing only bodyweight calisthenics and believing that training with weights was inferior. I've had Chinese medicine prescribed to me and experienced both cupping and acupuncture. Though I've never been religious or considered myself spiritual, I did for quite some time, as a martial artist, believe in qi. I used to think Glocks were for pansies and real men carried 1911's. I used to believe in the 45 minute window in regards to post workout protein.

I still take ice baths even though I'm unconvinced that the bro science regarding the practice has any real data to back it up.

I believed in the usual mystical nonsense: inspired perceptions, miracles, secret knowledge and so on. What a waste of time.
