He wasn't entirely wrong as Kołakowski in Main Currents of Marxism shows.

Well, let's see.

1. I used to believe there was an invisible presence in my room. I felt it. Knew it with fiery certainty in my soul. So I cried for my parents and they showed me there was no monster in the wardrobe.
Yet I knew they were wrong because I could still feel it, and feelings are never wrong.....
2. I believed my "creators" were infallible. They had all the answers, could fix anything that was broken and had a humbling foresight.....
3. I believed as long as my apology was heartfelt and sincere it would excuse all my bad behavior......
4. I believed I would never die......
5. I believed in magic......
6. I believed black and white absolutes applied to the human condition. Pure good and evil......
7. I believed dreams had prophetic meaning.....
8. I believed truth mattered, for everybody.....
9. I believed humans to be to have a perfect mind and body......
10. I believed the tiny sun and stars orbited the Earth.........

...... then I left kindergarten, grew up and put childish silliness behind me.

That's a really good list. Sadly, that feeling of a "presence" in the room didn't leave me for quite a lot longer.

Anyway- I used to believe in speaking in tongues. I used to believe in demonic possession. I used to believe in ghosts. I used to believe in aliens abducting people. I used to believe in prayer. I used to believe in God. I used to believe that I had a relationship with that god where he would be in my mind talking to me and listening to my thoughts. Now I realize that I just have a constant internal dialogue with myself. I used to believe that worshiping God brought me closer to him and that the emotions of peacefulness that I felt were from that god's spirit inside me. Now I realize that I was experiencing an emotional euphoria was simply a neurological response to being in a meditative state.

Creationism. I mean yeah you can just lump it into my former religious beliefs, but I now think believing in a literal Genesis/young Earth deserves its own category of special kind of stupid.

I used to use Answers in Genesis as a source, used all the same long debunked creationist arguments, and was the type of guy that would have been crucified here and ran back to church telling about how I was "persecuted" for the cause.

The good news is how utterly ridiculous I see all that is now.

That ghosts and spirits exist.
That I killed a man with a mental energy attack.
That lighting a candle, placing crystals in specific places, and incense did things.
That rune oracles, pendulum, and tarot are good to guide me through life.
That it matters during which phase of the moon I say my little incantations.
That it matters whether i draw an imaginary circle clockwise or anti-clockwise.
And many more.

Welcome to old magic me.

That government cares about people well-being.

I'm really glad you no longer think you committed murder when you clearly didn't. I can only see this as a beneficial liberating thing you've now achieved.

One time when I was in high school I was mentally undressing the girl in the desk in front of me and she turned around and gave me a dirty look, leading me to entertain the thought that maybe she could somehow read my thoughts.
