Wink

Nothing to do with your post, but just seeing it reminded me that I forgot someone on my "funny writers" list, and that would be Douglas Adams. He was right up there with the other people I listed.

It's a good list....

I've read all of Doug Adams, and Tom Robbins....

A fair bit of the rest...

He died suddenly at 35, heart attack. We buried him with that book.

I've been considering digging him up. My copy is getting worn out. I doubt he reads his...

Yeah, I forgot about comic strips. The Far Side was a classic, and so was Calvin and Hobbes. My favorite current strip is Get Fuzzy, with awesome artwork and surreal humor.

I haven't read any comic strips in years. I'm surprised to find out that there are still funny ones being printed! Tongue I'll Google Get Fuzzy, right now. Laugh out load

I like the sarcastic and ironic and things with puns or other wordplay. Steven Wright was an all-time favorite...

I love whimsical humor but slapstick is funny too and I also love "angry humor". Lewis Black is one of my favorites. I love it when he gets so angry his face and hands start to shake.

I used to live in Hollywood California. It was a pretty seedy place then and I think it still is but I would go around and find some of the places where old film were shot in the Los Angeles area. It was a fun thing to do. I used to take visitors on a tour. (I took friends to the bungalow where Marilyn Monroe died.) The steps where Laurel and Hardy filmed The Music Box is still there today.

Also, some humor from James Thurber in the 1940's and 50's from which many of today's cartoonists owe a great debt.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.
