Like a tad off subject like to the left a bit., the last time I was in church over a year ago my preacher was talking about all of this and he even mentioned the "fema" camps? Like really?

FEMA concentration camps exist only in the minds of a particularly loopy bunch of conspiracy theorists who believe that mass internment facilities have been built across the continental United States by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in preparation for a future declaration of martial law.

Though exact claims about the purpose and nature of the camps vary from one crank to another, a common theme is that they'll be used to detain dissenting US and Canadian citizens after the consolidation of the North American Union in preparation for the establishment of a one world government.

—This is yet another example of the church "controlling" its congregation by the insidious use of "manufactured" fear. In this case an unwarranted fear of the supposed New World Order and non-existent US and Canadian concentration camps purportedly already set up in secret locations by the federal governments. And this again confirms why we must have absolute separation of church and state. Churches are notorious hotbeds of deception and lies and fear-mongering.

The below image purports (deliberately erroneously) to show thousands of coffins stockpiled by the government, and ready to be used for the disposal of dissidents' bodies after the new American Union takes over.

They're not actually coffins or caskets, they are burial vaults (also known as grave liners, depending on how well they seal water out). And a burial vault is something that a coffin goes in, and is not used for interring people by itself. They're used in several US states where ground subsidence is an issue in graveyards.

These vaults fit over a regular coffin like this:

Since they're designed specifically to withstand the elements for hundreds of years, the cheapest place to store them is in open fields—which are just like a big outdoor warehouse. And which is where the conspiracy nutters get their photos from.

Turn off your internet doom feed, you will be better off for it. This is (believe it or not) a more peaceful period of humankind than has ever existed prior. It's just getting reported, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

I can only agree. The constant 24/7 live news streams give the false impression of the US (and some other countries) teetering at the brink of national destruction at the hands of psychopathic militants and out-of-control politicians.

When I was growing up, we didn't even have TV in Australia—all our international news was via a radio, or if you were lucky, a newsreel theatrette showing stuff that had happened overseas a week prior. And even TV when it finally arrived could only show the same sort of delayed world events via black and white films sent to us by airplane. Obviously no satellites or even submarine cable in those days.

So... things are not, I believe, quite as dire as the media would make us believe today. And as they say in the media, "the only good news is bad news". Post war we had the horrors of the first Indo-China war, advancing Communism in the East, the Arab–Israeli War, the Korean conflict, the Greek Civil War, the Panama crisis, the Vietnam conflict, the Bay of Pigs incident, and of course the entire Cold War period.

I guess what I'm saying is that today's younger generation—particularly Gen X and Gen Y—don't have a real understanding of the state of global military tensions of the post-WWII era, or of the simmering racial tensions of 50+ years ago.

And they seem to have forgotten major, racially-motivated events such as the 'Sharpeville Massacre' which occurred in March 1960, at the police station in the South African township of Sharpeville in Transvaal.

After 24 hours of demonstrations against pass laws, a crowd of about 5,000 to 7,000 black Africans gathered at the police station. White South African police panicked, and opened fire on the crowd, killing 69 of the black anti-pass demonstrators (including 10 children). More than 180 blacks were also injured (including 19 children). Prior to that event, four white police had been killed by black protestors in Durban, Natal province, as a result of antiapartheid demonstrations.

—What goes around comes around. Sadly.

The US police have shot, according to the last numbers I have, 164 people this year. That compares how with shooting 69 people in one event?

People who allow the media to herd them into a state of fright for no good reason.

The enemies of America are Americans who are emotionally affected by media? Isn't the media designed to emotionally affect them?

Why not those that produce the manipulative media? Or those that pay for it to be distributed?

I'm concerned that your definition makes an enemy out of the subset of citizens who A) watch manipulative media, and B) want to do something about what they (think they) learned. A) is a very large group. B) is members of that group with a degree of courage and initiative. That same subset are the ones who watch a terrorist attack on TV and decide they'll join the military to fight, or hear about bad decisions made by their city and go to the next city council meeting. Someone could see a weapon-enforced curfew on TV, decide that's not the America they live in, and protest by breaking curfew. Heroes and community leaders are made from the same scenario you say makes citizens into enemies.

Also, what's a "good reason," and who decides?

I remember one great conspiracy theory going on back in the early days of the Michigan Militia........ They had pictures of "cremation trains" -- where they could take a train car "full of captured "Christians and Patriots" that FEMA would round up" --- and run them through "drive through ovens".....

Those ovens DO exist - and I've seen the pictures.....

They're for curing paint, on freshly painted rail cars................
.....

I've never seen an oven designed for rail cars, but I've seen continuous pushers big enough to handle them. Come to think of it a big continuous pusher would probably be an efficient means of mass cremation. Bogie carts full of bodies in one end, carts of ashes out the other end. What would you do with the ashes of 240 million Christians though? Talk about an environmental impact...

Save a life. Adopt a greyhound.

I've encountered your patriotism before. I am used to it and that is okay. I do not share it, not being a US citizen.

This is not about my patriotism, Banjo. This is about me knowing the culture of the American military and making my guess based on that. I love my country but that isn't part of my reasoning. If you think it is, perhaps you'd be kind enough to quote the pasage in this thread where I used it as my reasoning?

That's right, you cannot, because I am not basing my point on it. So please, if you want to know further why I think a certain way, do me the courtesy of asking instead of imputing. It's much more polite, which is the tenor I'd prefer for this conversation.

Not if it were germane. I doubt it would be, though.

That is all.

Yeah, that's pretty obvious, not to mention unoriginal. It doesn't answer my previous point, though; it only restates your own.

Capitalism is on a life support machine. It's a race to the bottom to see if the cancer (debt) or the chemotherapy/cure (monetary policies) will kill it off first.

I stopped looking at conspiracy a few years ago. I very rarely watch the news and I have stopped following the worlds economy. If its gonna happen it will happen. It's not just the US, its europe as well.

I feel so much, and yet I feel nothing.

Capitalism is NOT dead.....

It simply married into a socialist family............
