What's gonna happen when I cash in my chips?
Hi guys,

I'm new around here, relatively speaking. I'd like to start a thread that has probably never been done before, if I may. It involves the question: "What's going to happen when I cash in my chips?" And I'm not talking about casino chips, but pushing-up-daisies or kicking-the-bucket kind of chips.
I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but the only certain thing in your life, from the second you are born, is that one day you are going to die. Everything else is just a cast of the dice. So I don't think it is too inappropriate to ask this question.
When you give the answer, there are several possibilities, because the answer contains both what you think will happen (based on your current conviction) and what you wish would happen if you could have it "your way" so to speak, religious convictions aside. It doesn't matter, God or no God. And the answers should be combinations of the following possible options:

1-I am 100% convinced that nothing will happen. I will simply disappear from this universe. I will feel nothing, like going to sleep and never waking up again.
2-I think, but I'm not convinced, that nothing will happen. I will probably disappear from this universe. I will feel nothing, like going to sleep and never waking up again.
3-I think, but I'm not convinced, that I will wake up somewhere else, I don't know where, but death will probably not be the end of it.
4-I am 100% convinced I will wake up somewhere else, I don't know where, but death will definitely not be the end of it.

And:

A-I wish there was something after death, even though that seems unlikely.
B-I haven't really thought about it.
C-I wish there was nothing after death, except endless nothingness.

So, your answer must be something like 1-A or 3-B, or whatever combination describes you best. When giving the answers try to be honest with yourselves. You have absolutely nothing to lose or to gain if you're not. Feel free to give (short) reasons for your answers, if you want to.

And to break the ice, I'm going to be the first to answer the question. Illogical as it may seem, I am a 4-C.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

It doesn't matter what I believe; all that matters is what I can prove!

I'm mostly 1-A.

I am convinced to the point that while I am not 100% certain, my own level of certainty is virtually indistinguishable from it; once I die I will simply stop existing.

I don't feel A, B, or C are applicable, thanks to their wording. I don't wish there was an afterlife, nor do I wish there was nothing after death and I have thought about it, which is why I don't want to project my non-existent wishes, onto either ill-fitting option.

RE: What's gonna happen when I cash in my chips?
"Waking up" requires a number of things which can't possibly happen with no intact functioning neurological system which is totally absent in dead people. Lacking a proposed mechanism, the question seems rather trite. When you're dead you're dead.
The only way around this fact is the remote possibility that someday either our descendants will learn how to manipulate space-time or some other factor may be able to "use" the realities discovered about Relativity and access other times.

Insufferable know-it-all.Einstein God has a plan for us. Please stop screwing it up with your prayers.

I don't think there will be anything, and I like it that way.
