I used to look at the Milky Way from the bush property I lived on as a kid, you're right, that is truly awe inspiring. Amazing how much light comes from the stars. Thumbsup

Early evening bat feeding frenzy over Hangzhou's West Lake at the height of mosquito season.

Runner up: A-10 dispensing freedom

If sticking with the space theme: A clear night in Alaska during aurora borealis.

I used to take LSD a bit when I was younger, so... are we talking about real things in the sky, or do hallucinations count?

Don't let those gnomes and their illusions get you down. They're just gnomes and illusions.

Some buddies of mine and me went out one very clear, cold winter night in Kodiak Alaska, and put down a big pile of tarps and sleeping bags -- and watched the northern lights while tweaking on some good acid...

I swear we could hear the damned things................

Logically - we shouldn't be able to hear them -- but I've heard other people claim the same thing......

Of course - there was lots of acid going around...

I was looking at the moon through a (shitty) telescope when a satellite passed through my view. I managed to sort of focus, or at least enough to tell it was a satellite, before it passed out of view. It was basically a blur (with the backlight from the moon it was also just a silhouette) that I caught a fleeting glimpse of for a fraction of a second, but it blew my mind. I was buzzing for days.

I ve also watched the aurora on mushrooms a few times. Very trippy.

So many cats, so few good recipes.

The Blue Angels at an Annapolis Graduation.

As for things outside our atmosphere, I keep looking but where I live there is a lot of light pollution. I've seen some meteors but that is it.
