RE: What's your wheels?
We had a 2000 Astrovan that had a blown head gasket, and ran rough as a cob. It needed front end work, new brakes, and the ABS didn't work, either. We donated it and I got a new Kia Forte to replace it. Now, I'm working on the old truck so that we have something to haul with. I've had to bring a hand saw to the wood store to shorten boards for a project I'm working. Then again, I can't get a 12' board into the truck, either, as it has a camper shell on it. My wife has a Soul, my '05 Corolla is being driven by one of my sons, and the other is driving a '93 Ford Escort that used to belong to my MIL. My eldest is in the USAF, and finally off my tit. Can't wait until the other two are on their own.

RE: What's your wheels?
Here we go again.....

We just got back from buying another car.. Just at the "handshake" point right now..... Gotta go back tomorrow and toss some cash.....

I'd seen this car sitting in this yard for the last couple years.... It's next door to a guy I know --- and I asked him about it a month or so ago. He said he knew it was his neighbor's daughter's car -- but wasn't quite sure what was wrong with it... So, I stopped by last week and left a note on the car - and a few days later got a text back from the lady who owns it.....

It's a 1997 Saturn SC2 - with a 5 speed manual. Apparently she was driving it on the highway when the oil light came on...... She put more oil in it - -but it went right through....... She was told, and believed it was a main seal.......

So - we went and looked at it -- and I crawled around underneath with a mirror checking out the undercarriage.... From what I could see - it was remarkably rust free..... The usual places they rust out - seemed very solid.... And - it's not undercoated. (a sign that it was originally from down south somewhere)....It has one window that was vandalized (passengers side) which had been covered with plastic. The interior is very clean -- about as clean as any I've seen for the year.

So - we talked about it a bit - and I explained we collect these cars -- and told her what we paid for the last few we've bought...... We ended up settling at $300..........

We'll probably use the car hauler I built and bring it home this weekend.......

This makes it the 9th Saturn my S.O. and I own..... (We currently have 5 running cars -- we sold one -- and this will be our third "non running".........

But --- I'm HOPING that it's just an oil pan leak.... There was no evidence of oil being slung off of the serpentine belt ---which if it was a main seal -- there would be.......... So -- it's POSSIBLE --- (not counting on it- but hoping) -- this might be a quick fix..................

I'll know more this weekend -- when we get it home and up on the lift.....

And -- it's purple....

Shocking

LOL...
at least it's DIFFERENT......

At one point - we had 5 that were red........ In the early to mid 90's -- I think red must have been the most popular color ---- because at least for Saturn -- there were a shitload of red ones......

Now we have a beige one - a white one -3 red ones and now a purple one... (plus a red and a dark chocolate one that we're scrapping out).

RE: What's your wheels?
Well, I've been building and racing cars, bikes, airplanes and boats all of my life. After retiring from the airline, I opened up a hotrod shop. We build just about anything, cars, bikes, buggies. The only rule is that it must be a performance machine, and it must be built to drive- we do build straight-up show cars, but they are all drivable if you chose.
I've had at least one of everything in my life, I think. I prefer to build my own so I can customize them to suit, but I'm not a backyard tinkerer, I own a fully equipped welding/fabrication/paint and body/ engine/ driveline/automotive electronics/interior shop. We do everything in-house.

I've long been into bikes, not a Harley fan but have a soft spot for old Norton's and Triumphs. I like to buy and highly modify GSXR's and 'Busa's.

I love Fords, I couldn't even tell you how many Mustangs I've owned and built. I've had two Panterras and two Ford GT's. My first car was a midnight metallic blue 68 Camaro, I sold it long ago but built a copy of it years ago and I still have it, ditto a 69 Ford Bronco truck. All of my cars were projects I bought and fully restored/modified here in my shop, as well as my daughter's and wife's cars.

My dream (nightmare) car 87 Countach

I also have a 2000 Ford F350 4 door, 4wd pickup with a 38" lift, 44" nitro grabber tires on 22" wheels, painted Tuxedo black with an Expedition nose on it.

The Countach was my dream car. My family is German, and we spent summers in Germany. My 18th birthday, when I was finally allowed to get an international driver's license, first thing I did was lease a Countach in Frankfurt for 12 days. Had a blast. Several years later, when my flying career had taken off (haha) and I had a decent income, I bought a used '87 and rebuilt it- and made it considerably faster and with more active suspension. It is crazy straight-line fast, handles better than any Countach, anywhere, is gorgeous, and is a terrible freaking car. Back one up some time, you'll learn everything there is to know. Prettiest cars ever built, and the V12 is a monster- especially with some tweaking...but there is a reason tractor companies shouldn't build hyper cars, lol.

I have 8 or 9 other cars and a few bikes, but no pics handy. This is probably enough. Gasp
