What track defines your life?
Folks,

Some of us have a music track which defines our life, some particular sound that hit us just when everything was happening and life was good. What’s yours?

This is mine. ‘Born to be wild’, but best performed not by Steppenwolf but by the ‘Leningrad Cowboys’. For me, this says it all and then some.

RE: What track defines your life?
If I had to give my life a theme song it would be this:

As the lyrics might as well be about me, something a few people who know me well enough have said in the past.

It is held that valour is the chiefest virtue and most dignifies the haver.

RE: What track defines your life?
No song defines but this one describes

Lyrics:

"Hell Yeah"

If you're thinking that my life
Is a hoot and a holler
From the start of the day
To the dark of the night
And that its ringin' like a bell
That you only want to follow
Gotta trust me when I say
I'm just trying to get it right

Still I think about myself
As a lucky old dreamer
If you're askin' me to tell
Is it worth what I paid
You gonna hear me say

Hell yeah it is
And I say it loud
I loved it all
And I'm not too proud
I freed my soul...just let it fly
Hell yeah this crazy life around me
It confuses and confounds me
But it's all the life I've got until I die
Hell yeah it is

If you're asking for my time
Isn't much left to give you
Been around a good long while
So I gotta say it fast
Time is all we'll ever need
But it's gotta have a meaning
You be careful how it's spent
Cause it isn't going to last

I hear you wondering out loud
Are you ever gonna make it?
Will you ever work it out?
Will you ever take a chance
And just believe you can?

Hell yeah you will
You're gonna be okay
And you might get lost
But then you'll find a way
Don't go alone
Can't be afraid
Hell yeah
This life is here and it's made for livin'
And love's a gift that's made for givin'
You give it all away and have it still
And Hell yeah you will

I've been living in a bowl
With a lot of people staring
With my feet on shaky ground
And my head up in the sky
But it's where I want to be
It's a life that's made for caring
Got a song to pass the day
And a girl to share the night

So if they ask you when I'm gone
Was it everything he wanted?
When he had to travel on
Did he know he'd be missed?
You can tell them this

Hell yeah he did!
He saw it all
He walked the line
Never had to crawl
He cried a bit
But not for long
Hell yeah
He found the life that he was after
Filled it up with love and laughter
Finally got it right
And made it fit
Hell yeah he did!
Hell yeah he did!
Hell yeah he did!

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

Jamiroquai - Hot Tequila Brown

Bit of story with this one, and it's such a random song to be attached too as well, so I apologise in advance.

Back when I was 18, I had moved away from home, out of town to be with my girlfriend, who had also moved out of town. My options were: 1) move out and be wit her or 2) break up. Option 2 would suck, so I gave it a go. It was a small town and I took the only job I could get, working 12 hour night shifts in a factory.

As you can imagine, it was mostly soul destroying work, and especially at 18 when you're supposed to be young/care free/attacking the world/etc. And even more so as before this, I was also that guy who was all smiles, dancing like a funky lunatic at every given opportunity, going to parties and generally being the happiest person on the planet.

One night, on route to work whilst listening to my Ipod, this came on. I'm a big Jamiroquai fan (perhaps the only one left haha) and I hadn't really listened to the song. I did so, and the lyrics just connected with me there and then in the street.....and I realised I was in a dead end job, an [at the time] very unhappy relationship, and that I needed to get the fudge out of there or else I'd probably end up killing myself.

The ones in particular are: "It's been so long and the groove in my heart is nearly gone", which despite it not really meaning this, I took to be: I've lost that spark in my heart that makes me happy. The spark that connects my self proclaimed groovey funk connection with music, that makes me dance at parties/on the dance floor/even in shops......and it's gone, all because I've been ground down to this dead end town/job and I need to pack up and go.

Right there and then, I turned back, went home and packed my shit. That was some 10+ years back now and I'm back in my home town/got a good job/relationship great (we're married now haha) and it's all gravy.

I revisit this every now and again when I feel down and it reminds of that crazy time in my life, when that could have been it for me, for the next 60-70+ years. Working in a factory and loosing my mind.

Anyway, back to regular programming now. I'll be quiet Smile

Well, they'll stone ya when you're trying to be so good
They'll stone ya just a-like they said they would
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to go home
Then they'll stone ya when you're there all alone
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

Well, they'll stone ya when you're walkin' 'long the street
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to keep your seat
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' on the floor
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' to the door
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

They'll stone ya when you're at the breakfast table
They'll stone ya when you are young and able
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to make a buck
They'll stone ya and then they'll say "good luck"
Tell ya what, I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

Well, They'll stone you and say that it's the end
Then they'll stone you and then they'll come back again
They'll stone you when you're riding in your car
They'll stone you when you're playing your guitar
Yes, but I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

Well, they'll stone you when you walk all alone
They'll stone you when you are walking home
They'll stone you and then say you are brave
They'll stone you when you are set down in your grave
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

"Highway to Hell" would be a good fit.

The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

RE: What track defines your life?
I have eight, can we have eight? Big Grin

Jennifer Juniper by Donovan...My Dad always said that song reminded him of me and it's what I'm named after.

Amazing Grace-Aretha Franklin (I used to be extremely religious).

I'm Like a Bird by Nelly Furtado (I went through some hard times at one point, struggling with belief, God, religion, and lack thereof and it impacted many pieces of my life and "The I don't know where my soul is, I don't know where my home is" just kind of summed up how I was feeling until I finally flew away from the religious bs and I needed to find myself separate and away from all of that).

Gypsy by Shakira (I'm kind of a free spirit Wink )

Tiny Dancer by Elton John (only I don't sleep around with the band and am highly monogamous with my boyfriend, but I feel the rest of the song applies in more of a metaphorical way).

Vogue by Madonna (I'm a yogini, so yeah strike a pose Tongue )

Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond (I'm a Red Sox girl from MA-always reminds me of home).

California Dreamin' by The Mamas & The Papas-My boyfriend played this for me when we were moving to CA.

"Let the waters settle and you will see the moon and stars mirrored in your own being." -Rumi

RE: What track defines your life?
This song doesn't exactly "define" my life, but it invariably rekindles some of my most cherished and at the same time most poignant memories... of the first real true love of my life, now sadly long lost.

The Four Aces, and the music of the 50s in general, was by many standards far more evocative than much of the utter crap that's produced today—and when the word romance actually meant something. Far too much contemporary music today is filled with doom and gloom, and death, and promiscuous sexual imagery that objectifies and degrades women. And I doubt any millennial could even comprehend the significance of these beautiful lyrics.

I'm a creationist... I believe that man created God.

Wink Well, somebody had to do it!

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.
