What would prove gods malevolence?
If a god exists what does he have to do for you to think he is the evil one?

If God came down and said "The bible is the correct moral guidebook," then I think that would prove malevolence.

RE: What would prove gods malevolence?
I find it curious that many people will think god is benevolent one no matter what he does cause "he knows best"

Even if such a being "knows what's best", does that mean he/she necessarily does what's best. And, best for whom exactly. I would think an all powerful being could create a reality where any and all outcomes are optimal for all involved. Clearly it's not this one.

You can lead a theist to reason, but, you cannot make him think.

RE: What would prove gods malevolence?
All you have to do is walk into any children hospital and you'll know there is no god, let alone a good one. Children are suffering, they are dying, and for people to still think there is an all-merciful, all-good god boggles my mind.

If god exists, he's evil. Things happen so randomly and it isn't ever fair, all a god would have to do to prove his malevolence to me would be him merely existing. How could he just be sitting there doing nothing while people are dying in agonizing pain? What a sadist if god were real.

Everyday is judgement day. Use your judgement, use reason.

Given your propensity for promoting an irrational worldview and justifying a bloodthirsty celestial tyrant, I would regard your criteria as granted.

I understand why you think this, but the whole notion is really creepy to people who don't assume God is real and that he has good reasons for allowing suffering. We are actually more concerned about the suffering in the world than about the notion of free will.

She's alluding to the free will defense.

RE: What would prove gods malevolence?
So taking away free will is the ONLY thing god could do to be malevolent? Oh come on now.
