Whats the difference between the Boxing Ring and the Colosseum
Well, I know one is a tourist site in Rome and the other is where two people hit each other with thick gloves on for 12 rounds. But what's the difference here on this forum.Undecided

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Um maybe the difference between R and X rated. Boxing ring is one on one. Colosseum is where the lions eat the Christians anything goes. I don't know though you'd have to ask the admins.

RE: Whats the difference between the Boxing Ring and the Colosseum
The Colosseum is just the larger section that houses the small sub-forums, the Boxing Ring and the Viper's Pit.

The Boxing Ring is used for 1-on-1 debates, Marquess of Queensberry rules. These are (mostly) respectful debates between individuals, with prior agreed upon topics and rules of conduct. It's also where people can post open challenges or request to debate a specific member or on a specific topic.

The Viper's Pit is where off-topic and vitriolic threads go to die. It mostly consists of divergent topics where emotions have gotten too heated and the fight has be sectioned off and moved by the admins for the benefit of the greater forum.

The Colosseum itself now mostly consists of commentary threads based upon the various 'matches' in the Boxing Ring sub-forums, because those debates are between individuals and anyone else posting in them has their posts removed by the admins. So if you see something worth commenting on in the Boxing Ring, those not directly involved in the debate can make their opinions and thoughts known in the larger Colosseum; every recent debate has had an adjourning 'commentary' thread in the greater Colosseum.

So the Boxing Ring has evolutionary ties to the Colosseum and the and Vipers Pit is where things slowly go extinct. Big Grin
