When I hear the word "god"
When I hear anyone saying the word, ”god”, I have a mixture of thoughts and feelings:

Here are a few of them:

1. What do they mean?
2. How dare they presume that I know what they mean?
3. How do they know?
4. Have they never been lied to before?
5. Have they not studied history?
6. Which of the many gods invented do they talk about?
7. Are all these gods mutually exclusive?
8. Why don’t they wait until all these gods fight it out among themselves and let us know the result?
9. What do their lives depend on: science or religion?
10. Do they count on their god or their engineers when they are flying or crossing a bridge?
11. Have they ever heard of Epistemology?
12. Don’t they see the self-serving power structure selling god?
13. If nobody ever told them, would they have invented the concept?
14. Based on what personal experience?
15. Do they know the difference between "know" and believe"?
16. How does their god resolve the conflict between millions praying for and against the same thing (like in a war)?

These are just a few of my thoughts when I hear the word “god”.

I am sure you can add your own.

RE: When I hear the word "god"
I tend to think;

How can a species that has evolved such an intellect that they can put a man on the moon still be dogged by such a ridiculous fairytale? How can supposedly intelligent people fail to see the flaws in the logic? And how did we ever make it out of caves when we are so inherently thick?

Best and worst of Ferdinand .....
Best
Ferdinand: We don't really say 'theist' in Alabama. Here, you're either a Christian, or you're from Afghanistan and we fucking hate you.
Worst
Ferdinand: Everyone from British is so, like, fucking retarded.

"Against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain."

---Friedrich von Schiller

What an irony!!!

I would have said:

"Against the gods intelligence contends in vain."

You have never even read the bible, I'd bet my left arm.

That's my first thought and then the rest flood in, this happens often and so I have learned to let them reside in my subconscious thought so as to not become so distracted with rage I slap people.

"I think of myself as an intelligent, sensitive human being with the soul of a clown which always forces me to blow it at the most important moments." -Jim Morrison

RE: When I hear the word "god"
"please say something worth discussing"
"should I just walk away or is there a point?"
"why do christian men keep hitting on me?"
"why do they all talk about god where's the polytheists to at least be interesting?"
"august 11th....."

I ask a bunch of questions as well, but these are things I really want to say =p

I'm not a non believer, I believe in the possibility of anything. I just don't let the actuality of something be determined by a 3rd party.

Great link. This explains a lot.

When I find myself in times of trouble, Richard Dawkins comes to me, speaking words of reason, now I see, now I see.

Whose 'bible'?

The christians' ... the muslims' ... the hindus' ... the satan worshippers' ???

For a partial list see: religions of the world

They all have their version of "the god" and "the bible' as if there weren't hundreds of them.

They all have their bibles they swear by, live by, torture by, kill by.

Does it matter by what 'bible' they are delusional?
PS.

Have you ever heard the story of Hitler visiting an insane asylum?

Before the visit, all the patients are taught how to do the Nazi salute.

When Hitler arrives, they all do it perfectly, except for one who does not salute at all.

Hitler is furious: “Why don’t you salute me”? he roars.

The man answers calmly: “Excuse me, but I am the doctor”.
