RE: Where do we draw the line?
I understand how the world and its ecosystem works, but since we all have LUCA, it's hard to find the line since ALL living things are related. Since we are highest on the food chain, does that really justify or give us the right to kill anything? We use empathy to not kill or malign a fellow human or a domesticated pet, but most don't think twice about less cuddly rodents because they carry disease or are just plain ugly.

It reminds me of the opening scene in Inglorious Basterds when the farmer is being interviewed and the Nazi says if you saw a rat running across your kitchen floor you would greet it with hostility, but if it were a squirrel you'd think it was cute and escort it out of the home. They are both rodents and even look alike, yet we despise one and love the other.

Weeds are living things, but we kill them because we want our lawn green. Bugs are living things, but we kill them because they might bite us. I just struggle with this from time to time. And again, I know I'm a hypocrite because I love to eat meat, chicken, fish, etc. it's just difficult to rectify or square that circle sometimes.

Check out my now-defunct atheism blog. It's just a blog, no ads, no revenue, no gods.

RE: Where do we draw the line?
LOL This is an interesting topic. I've had a cockroach ''living'' in my bathroom for a while now. I know it's the same one, because he walks over to me, and just sits there. Not frightened, it seems. As if he knows me. (I sound crazy maybe, but I believe this) lol I think he appreciates that I haven't yet killed him. Yes, I said appreciate...so what! Gasp

I don't plan to squish him, which is weird because I'm quite phobic of bugs.

Don't judge me. Laugh out load

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

I've heard people who have pet crickets. My brother bred one species of cockroach for his bearded dragon.

I don't have room to judge!

If you haven't seen it already --- you NEED to go to Netflix and rent "Joe's Apartment"......
