They're entertaining if you view them as a completely new concept rather than something to be compared to traditional Star Trek.

Could an argument be made to watch this one before watching any others? I liked the depiction of the Klingons in that one. It gave a huge reason for Kirk's character to absolutely hate them! And it had Christopher Lloyd, and Dan (John Larroquette) from Night Court, as Klingons. Laugh out load And I've always really liked the look of the Klingon's Bird Of Prey!

The Next Generation, all the way, Sneroul! Thumbsup

Well, aside from the fact they're still called Kirk, Spock, Sulu, ect. Paramount didn't have the balls to create a new crew, so they just remade them. It gets harder that way for TOS fans.

Shatner is better than Keanu Reeves but that's about all I can say for him. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed TOS and still do despite how dated it is now.

I can't stand the new films either but for a slightly different reason. If they wanted to tell a different story then they should have created new characters. In most cases remakes suck and when remakes alter the original story they just piss me off.

The trouble is that they aren't a completely new concept. They're mostly the original concept twisted by somebody who thought he could do a better job but without enough integrity and originality to actually come up with something new.

RE: Where should i start watching star trek
We are into season three of ST:TOS, season 1 was good, season two was ok, so far though season three has been great.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

That is totally not fair. Karl Urban absolutely freakin' nails it as Bones.

Then to you he does. Not to me.

So long as it hasn't been hijacked by nanites, or a blue glowing entity pretending to be a gawd, we're all good. Tongue
