RE: Which piece of classical music do you recommend today?
"William Tell Overture" composed by Rossini.

I'd obviously heard it used as a cliche soundtrack to various cinematic absurdities, but speeding down the highway in a retired police cruiser; swerving past cars left and right while blasting it from the speakers was...well, it was one of the few times the old man and I didn't fucking hate each other. (Perhaps because he was doing shots in the passenger seat while my foot was to the floor. Nobody can be angry in a situation like that. lol)

Through profound pain comes profound knowledge.
Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto! Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor!

Carmina Burana - II. Fortune plango vulnera
Carl Orff
The power of it is just amazing. Best if listened on loud and good speakers.

Toccata and Fugue in D Minor
Bach
It's 80 degrees and sunny out. Part of me always laments the end of Winter; the turn in the year that takes time from darkness, and gives it to the light. I love organ music,.....that & I've been trying to find good Vampire flicks, lately Evil_monster

[Title] Loituma - Ievan's Polkka
[Composer]
[Reason] Cute music. If not classical, at least classic.

Really? Consider

I would've thought your favorite bit would be the part where he says:

Vellet deus, vellent di
quod mente proposui:
ut eius virginea
reserassem vincula.

(May the gods grant what I have in mind: to undo the bonds of her virginity.)

And then she says:

Dulcissime, totam tibi subdo me!

(Sweetest one, I give myself to you totally!)

Religious disputes are like arguments in a madhouse over which inmate really is Napoleon.

Piano Concerto in F
George Gershwin
Quintessential Americana - bold, optimistic, jazzy, touched with some whimsy and melancholy. A favorite of mine and this is a first rate rendition.

There is no "I" in "team" but there is a broken and mixed up "me."

[Title] Requiem in D minor
[Composer] Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
[Reason] Gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. The fact that a single man can compose such a masterpiece fills me with awe. That, and it was created by a German.

I can never hear Nessun Dorma from Tourandot by Puccini without getting chills.
