White Genocide in South Africa - Where's the media?
Quote:The African National Congress has been South Africa’s governing party since the Presidency of Nelson Mandela 17 years ago, following the end of white minority rule and apartheid. In the years under apartheid, hate speech was used by both supporters and opponents of the apartheid system to stir up their followers. When racial tensions in South Africa ran high, the song “Kill the Farmer, Shoot the Boer” was a revolutionary song of the anti-apartheid movement. However, it is an illustration of the long-term impact that such de-humanizing language can have.

After many years when such songs were no longer sung, in 2010, prominent members of the ANC Youth League, in particular Julius Malema, President of the ANC Youth League, openly sang the “Shoot the Boer” song at ANC Youth League rallies. Not only did revival of the song strike fear into the hearts of Boer farmers, but it has actually been sung during attacks on white farmers. It is an incitement to murder white Afrikaner farmers.

Over 3000 white farmers have been murdered since 1994. The South African police have not made investigation and prosecution of these farm murders a priority, dismissing them as crimes by common criminals. The government has disbanded the commando units of white farmers that once protected their farms, and has passed laws to confiscate the farmers’ weapons. Disarmament of a targeted group is one of the surest early warning signs of future genocidal killings.

A recent outbreak of violent farm invasions has led to casualties among white South Africans. The farm invasions are direct results of calls by Julius Malema and his Deputy, Ronald Lamola for whites to give up their land without compensation, or face violence by angry black youths “flooding their farms.”

In response to Julius Malema, the Freedom Front (FF) cited Section 16.2c of the South African Constitution, which restricts freedom of speech rights by excluding as unprotected speech "advocacy of hatred based on race, ethnicity, gender or religion and incitement to cause harm.” The FF contended that Malema’s singing of the “Shoot the Boer” song was hate speech and therefore a human rights violation. Acting Judge of the South Gauteng High Court, Leon Halgryn declared that the song is hate speech, and it is unconstitutional to either utter or sing “dubul’ibhunu” (“shoot the Boer.”) He issued an injunction against Malema, ordering him to no longer sing the song. The phrase is now considered hate speech.

Julius Malema was shortly thereafter removed as President of the ANC Youth League, and ejected from the ANC. However, Malema’s followers have defied the judgment and continue to sing the song. Even

President Jacob Zuma sang “Shoot the Boer” at the ANC Centenary Celebration event in January of 2012. He claimed that its use at the ANC Centenary was not intended as hate speech, but rather to commemorate the struggle against apartheid.

Despite President Zuma’s proclaimed intent, his singing of the song may be contributing to an increasingly hostile environment that threatens the safety of white South Africans. The number of murders of Boer farmers has increased each month in 2012.

Where is the media? Does no one care about this? During the apartheid era, that's all the mainstream media would talk about, and there was no genocide of blacks.

Are you suggesting that the white farmers being slaughtered in record numbers deserved it because of apartheid, for which they may or may not have had any direct involvement?

Do you think all whites now deserve to be killed off because of what their ancestors did?

The white guilt is strong with you.

RE: White Genocide in South Africa - Where's the media?
I'm not informed about this so I'll take your word (biased as it is) for now.

I don't think it's good or justifiable if this is happening as you said. I do understand that is not covered by the media though, because 3k people killed over 10 years is not what you'll normally call a genocide. Again, it's not good or anything like it, but it's not the death of tens of thousands over a short period of time, is a bit more than 300 deaths per year, is not a big number considered that 50 people are killed in South Africa each day, that means that around 18k people are killed per year. So the white genocide you talk about represents 1.6% of the annual murders in SA.

RE: White Genocide in South Africa - Where's the media?
South African media do talk about it... I've seen several articles on and off. South African white people are often quite pessimistic about the future of the country. There are historical reasons why black and white guys don't get on here... *Mainly* due to apartheid.

Jacob Zuma, Julius Malema and their ilk are demagogues. They say whatever it takes to keep them in power or upwardly mobile. They are seriously disturbing politicians.

Race relations in South Africa need to be handled with extreme sensitivity. There is definitely a need to recognize that no one is clean. The conflict is old and some of the hatreds and anger will only die when the generation that lived through those events dies. But young educated South Africans more or less universally believe that we can change these things, one step at a time. For that we have to be on the same side, and we have to leave racism out of it. It has no place in Africa. Assholes like the right wing Afrikaner groups and politicians on the make do very much to harm the effort though.

After all, we *have* got a brilliant constitution, and even evil politicians can't quite do whatever they want, they do occasionally get called to account, and the press is largely free to print whatever they want (although Zuma has been trying very hard to get some gag laws passed). In Africa, that's a huge thing. Most countries in Africa corruption and factionalism are a thousand times worse.

That's why there should be more media on this. If the races were reversed, you know the mainstream media would be all over this.

We know the ANC top brass are a bunch of assholes. We know the farmers are having a hard time... and yeah, I did see an article saying that the farm protection system had been discontinued. But I'd like you to cite evidence for the confiscation of weapons and laws that you say have been passed, because I haven't seen anything about that, and it would be big news here. Lots of guys in SA are armed and have gun licences. AFAIK none of them have been raising a stink about government regulation of their guns.

there're 18 thousand black people being killed annualy in SA and the media says nothing about it... why would it say anything for 300 more?

If this is a systematic plan to get rid of white people in SA you'll need more prove than that...
