RE: Who do you write like?
The poem "Physics" I posted in the Poet's Corner got me Palahniuk.

A chapter from my unpublished novel got me William Gibson.

Another chapter, this one from an unfinished novel that's languished for a couple of years, resulted in Agatha Christie.

Never read any of those authors.

RE: Who do you write like?
Here, I write like Dan Brown (heard of him, never read any of his work).
In college, I wrote like David Foster Wallace (I don't know who he is).
In my GRE course (and one college philosophy course) I write like H.P. Lovecraft.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I've read some of Lovecraft's writing and quite enjoyed it, but I do wish I had gotten people that I know more about. Granted, the authors that I've actually studied generally have a really distinct style and I don't actively try to impose that into my writing.

I think you're right. I got Dan Brown and Jonathon Swift when I submitted some of my papers on supernatural/fantasy literature. I got Isaac Asimov when I submitted a science paper.

I think that sums up this thread quite neatly.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

I write like a 11th grade high schooler. Writing just isn't my thing. I struggle......I struggle. Blush

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.
