Who is your hero?
To me the word "hero" is a very overused word these days. If someone picks up garbage on the beach they're a hero. *rolls eyes*

Who is your hero? What actions do you consider heroic?

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Calling every one who gets killed a "hero" is a pet peeve of mine. More often they are merely victims of someone's incompetence.

None. They all have feet of clay.
I do know some extraordinarily good and generous people though.

I don't have one certain hero but I think the closest thing for me would be firefighters. Running into a burning building on purpose to try to save people is pretty amazing.

Other rescue type people who put themselves in danger to find/save others too...I guess most first responder types.

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF

My hero is Banjo. Big Grin

Yes, our Banjo. If nothing else but for giving cancer a kick in the nuts.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

I have always admired Thomas Edison, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein. Not real heroes, because they were people like the rest of us, but I do admire them. Samuel Clemens seems like he would have been fun to know.Big Grin

Heroic actions? I admire people who save lives- doctors, firefighters, EMT workers. I admire people who are brave, kind and loyal, even when no one is watching them. I think some scientists are heroes- such as Karl Landsteiner and Abel Wolman, who worked to save lives.

The biology of mind bridges the sciences - concerned with the natural world - and the humanities - concerned with the meaning of human experience. Eric Kandel

I'm with Moms-Banjo for sure. My dad. Anyone in the military. People who overcome major obstacles in life with strength, dignity, grace and channel all of that into a way to put good out into the world. People who are brave enough to follow their own path and say fuck you to society.
