I also went to flight school, where we learned to use a type of circular slide rule called a "Whiz-Wheel", the E6B Flight Computer.

Note that the Navitimer dial is a subset of the E6B. That's what it was designed to be.

I have heard they are particularly effective in the hands of Catholic nuns. Consider

I used one back in the day when I was considering being an engineer. I also used one to crop photos when I didn't have a crop wheel.

Check out my now-defunct atheism blog. It's just a blog, no ads, no revenue, no gods.

It's been a while, but I'm sure I could again. I also had a duplex one with conversions.

My dad showed me as a kid and I was able to use it foe a while. I have however long since forgotten.

Other "old school" technologies -----

Who can use ---

Vernier calipers or height gauge (NOT dial)???

Operate a mill or lathe using ONLY the vernier dials, and accounting backlash??

I can, and do use all of the above on a regular basis, in my shop... No digital readouts.

.......

I can also send/receive morse code, including numbers and punctuation..... I actually did CW traffic for a living for 5 years...

Big Grin
