The greatest standup comedian ever; George Carlin

Some of my favorites about God, religion and death.

Too bad George didn't get to see this response to that video. I'm sure he would have loved it.

Many years ago it was Robin Williams. He really introduced me to the magic of both stand-up comedy and random humor.

Lately though, I'm torn between the madness of Eddie Izzard (particularly love his bit about the Trojans) and George Carlin.

I would have to say that Eddie and George are my two all time favorites!

I love Eddie Izzard! And Brian Reagan is really funny. And... That guy who sings a song about Beelzebub. I think it's Stephen something? *goes to find his name*
Stephen Lynch!
I also still really like some bits by Dane Cook and some by Jeff Dunham. Oh shit, and Bill Engvall! Good ol' southern humour.
Also rip Mitch Hedberg. Love his delivery!

I was outraged to not see George Carlin on page 1.

Aspiring optimist
Eternal Pragmatist.
With the uncanny ability to see all sides in every argument.

George Carlin was George fucking Carlin! He was unique and you can't compare other comedians to him! I am also surprised that Denis Leary hasn't been mentioned.

RE: Who's your favorite Stand-Up Comedian?
I feel I should note that lately I haven't been a fan of standup so much. After watching Monty Python, Kids In The Hall, Blackadder and others standup just seems so formulaic to me. I prefer the freedom of madness that can be had in a film or sketch. I guess I like seeing the visualization of the comedy as well as the content itself.

I wonder what a film written and directed by Eddie Izzard would look like...

Too many to choose.

John Pinette, Danny Bhoy, Jim Gaffigan, Lewis Black, Bill Cosby....the list goes on and on.
