RE: Who would expose a child to this...
I have to say I disagree with all of you.

First at Leela. I was nine years old when I saw lord of the rings. It's probably on of my favourite movies. My brother who is 4 watches Jurassic park. And there is no way in hell he is going to watch in the night garden because it's stupid. Guess what kids understand death just as much as adults. of course with four grandparents, five dogs, a rabbit, a hamster, great grandmother, guinea pig, uncounted fish. my family got used to death fairly quickly. But guess what I turned out pretty normal in the end.

2. there is a very big difference between that image and many violent video games as well as some music. If you look at the image every one is very morose, the image is suppose to inspire empathy. Many video games lack empathy. I think I might have been affected by this as I think Total war games were partially responsible for by lack of hatred towards slavery.

3. there also exists two camps especially when it comes to history. the first believe in shock and awe. those that believe we should not hide things like the holocaust and world war one and instead show them pictures of the horror so they can learn. the other camp wants everything horrible hidden from their children. I blame these people for the lack of good kid shows on T.V.

P.S. I do not support the banning of video games

I'm homophobic in the same way that I'm arachnophobic. I'm not scared of gay people but I'm going to scream if I find one in my bath.

I'm. Also homophobic in the same way I'm arachnophobic. I'm scared of spiders but I'd still fuck'em.

It is not about understanding death in that case. I mean, yeah I saw such pictures too as a kid and movies i wasn't supposed to, etc. It is what your parents make of it, if they are available to explain things to you or see when you take things the wrong way and talk to you, you will come out pretty ok, but not all kids have that. Including not all christian parents care that well for their kids. So they are exposed to such pictures games movies <insert what you want> and they don't get explanations. And these were the parents (care givers) I was talking about.

Though I must say, sorry, I think that Jurrasic Park is not for 4 year olds and Lord of the Rings not for 10 year olds.
I worked in preschools, creches, and daycarecenters long enough to know what you get then. Kids who do not have parents to talk overcompensate such stuff to work it off their minds when they don't understand.
