Why do Christians trust YHWH?
I've said this several times in various threads, but I'm going to give the topic its own thread, now.

So, according to the Bible, YHWH is the source of all of our morality. He tells us not to kill, steal, rape lie, or covet, yet, he frequently breaks his own rules. He's on record for murdering the crap out of lots of people. Even children! So, you ask an apologist "what the shit?" and they'll say something to the effect of "God has no moral imperative not to kill us" or "those rules are for us, not God" or "who are you to question the Almighty!?"

Fair enough, I suppose (not really), but how do you know God isn't lying at any given time? He has no moral imperative to tell the truth, the rules about lying don't apply to him, and hey, who are we to question him? The apologetics are pretty clear on this.

So, how does a Christian trust any single word written in the Bible or allegedly said by God? Any traits they give him (like holding to his covenants) are all told to us... by God. How do we know he holds his covenants?

So, Christians: how can you trust God?

RE: Why to Christians trust YHWH?
Back when I believed, I often thought that the bible was more likely to be a deception from the devil than the word of god, because it really was ungodly.

I guess there's more reason to distrust god than to trust him

We don't know. That's why it's a faith.

Does Bible say this? I don't remember this statement. Does Bible have any claim that God can brake or brakes His promise /word?

I don't have any reason not to trust Him, yet. When He gives me at least one reason I probably will stop trusting Him.

How do you justify your faith in something so.. absurd? in normal life we have faith in things based on assessments of actual evidence.

Dreams/Hallucinations/delusions are not evidence
Wishful thinking is not evidence
Disproved statements&Illogical conclusions are not evidence
Logical fallacies&Unsubstantiated claims are not evidence
Vague prophecies is not evidence
Data that requires a certain belief is not evidence

RE: Why to Christians trust YHWH?
How do you trust someone who manifests himself on earth, sacrfices himself so he can then end up returning to himself, all in a desperate attempt to win your attention and praise. Nobody would take a used car salesman on "faith" and purchase a car over the phone without driving and inspecting the vehicle, so why is it a virtue when it comes to life and the universe? Dumb, so dumb.

“Truth does not demand belief. Scientists do not join hands every Sunday, singing, yes, gravity is real! I will have faith! I will be strong! I believe in my heart that what goes up, up, up, must come down, down, down. Amen! If they did, we would think they were pretty insecure about it.”

Good question. BTW who supposedly sacrificed himself and returned to himself?
