Why do psychics ask people what their name is?

The actual answer is because the US government pay them too because the physics can tell where the oil is but nobody knows this because it's a big conspiracy. And something about invasions, Osama and 9/11.

Ah, good point.

The answer is, they ask you your name so Obama can send the Al Qaedas to kill you!

....and they craftily draw you out into the open by disguising themselves as pizza delivery guys.

Of course, you need to clarify...your given name or the name everyone knows you by.
Such details may be hazy at first, even for a psychic.

How else will they know your name besides asking?

Those details will be just as hazy for everyone else too. Equally hazy. Exactly the very same exact amount of hazy for psychics as for everyone else. Because there are no psychics.

Well....it makes sense. Why do they want my name?

RE: Why do psychics ask people what their name is?
This is just a hypothesis of mine, but if the person has a certain name, the psychic might be able to pinpoint the location at which their family comes from.

My family names are all similar, Michael, Jim, and Matt are the most common in my family. And Jim just so happens to be a common name of Austrian immigrants to America.

If it is a psychic that wants to guess some family names, they might ask for your first and last name.

Last names are most likely to tell them where exactly you and your family came from.

This gives them an idea of what your dead relatives names could be.
