Why do you play violent games?
I play violent video games because I hate the way our society works and it is my stress release. We have some of the dumbest people in control and without being able to play violent games and toss out the rules for a while, I might just go insane. Just curious what everyone else sees in violent games.

RE: Why do you play violent games?
It was around my transition period from high school to University where I had a bit of conciousness raising concerning being conditioned towards violence and militarism.
Pass times that bred "Us vs. Them" mentalities. Say football, your squad must invade your opponents territory to "win". Even classic boardgames Chess, checkers, battleship all of which you set up an opponent and strive to destroy and diminish. You never see a battleship variant where you have to, say, fill up your "opponents" boat with fish and the first one to fully feed your "opponent" wins. I really found this social conditioning for militarism displeasing. LET ALONE the blatant video games that have you slaughtering Russians, Arabs, etc. So, long story short, violent or military oriented games were never really appealing. The whole thing is interesting to think about (when you think about it), but ultimately unfortunate. |

I don't.
I don't have competitive bone in my body and I'm allergic to my own adrenaline. |

Not to say I don't see the concerns with them. Not the "violent games make kids violent herp derp" bullshit. Concerns about militarism, racism, etc. If you're interested in that stuff, I highly recommend playing the game Spec Ops: The Line, which is a commentary on modern military shooter games. E 2 = (mc 2)2 + (pc )2 614C → 714N + e– + ̅νe 2 K(s) + 2 H2O(l) → 2 KOH(aq) + H2 (g) + 196 kJ/mol It works, bitches. |

They are challenging, fun, and create a community of people who feel likewise. You'd be hard pressed to find any aspect of life that does not require some form of violence. It is part of life. I find violent video games, however, to be far more productive than a Colosseum full of gladiators.
Occasional TTA returner then leaverer. |

RE: Why do you play violent games?
I'd say, for me, technically I don't play violent video games.
I play video games that have violence in them. Sounds like splitting hairs but there is a difference..... ![]() ![]() |

Why do you play violent games?
I found they were good practice in desensitizing myself in pursuit of becoming the psychopath I've always wanted to become.
It was just a fucking apple man, we're sorry okay? Please stop the madness ![]() ~Izel |
