For instance, the reason Vosur doesn't understand Logica's point is because he doesn't consider himself to be part of a discussion. He thinks he is educating others, which is actually quite laughable given the topic. Then again, maybe he is an old pro at this.... Perhaps a bestiality porn star!

I have a PhD in bestiality, does that make me an "old pro"? Consider

Troll or not, I aggree with the OP about the conscent. BS. You kill them, eat them, use their skin and hair and bones and everything. You breed them, you keep them as pets, use them for guard and field work, ride them... They did not conscent to any of that.
I don't care if anyone says the OP is a troll post, it is a topic that is interesting indeed. Call me sick or a weirdo but this topic is more complex as you might think, telling you.
But whatever, some topics seem to be a taboo even here.

Would you go as far as to say it is abuse though? Dogs, for example, seem quite content with being domesticated, as they willingly lived alongside man.

Logica, which of all the examples would you not call abuse?
And dogs willingly lived alongside man because first they were being made to stay by feeding and taming them, and then they were bread to pets that like us. So back to breeding, no concsent there.

Any of the examples. If you are prepared to call the domestication, slaughtering, and devouring of animals "abuse", I think you'd best start hating the majority of nature. Life is about consuming fellow life, and if that leads to a hypothetical scenario in which we were somehow in their shoes, so be it.

As for your idea of dogs, evidence indicates that canines were not forced to become domesticated.

(27-08-2012 03:12 PM)MisterMaggot Wrote:  As an animal rights activist I don't know how to deal with this controversial issue.

Most humans eat meat, meaning they can justify the murder of animals for food. They must also be able to justify the agricultural process: the masturbation of animals so their sperm can be collected for artificial insemination, the forced mating of animals etc. If these activities can be justified by society it is surprising that bestiality is prohibited. The argument may be that animals are required for food, however any vegetarian knows this is not true.

The usual argument against bestiality is that animals cannot give consent, however they cannot consent to the things listed above yet society doesn't prevent them happening. They cannot consent to being taken for a walk any more than they can consent to being eaten.

Morality is occasionally used as an argument against bestiality, however morality is subjective and has been used to justify the criminalization of homosexuality or sex before marriage.

Finally bestiality is used synonymously with animal abuse or rape. This is inaccurate as not all bestiality is forceful. A dog may mount a human of its own free will, animals can reject human advances by moving away, a human zoophile may make a concerted effort to avoid harming his animal partner etc.

Should people concerned with animal rights be pro or anti bestiality?

Any sain people should be anti beastiality.

RE: Why is bestiality illegal?
Maybe I am readding some of the posts wrong, but I can not believe some of the people in here are insinuating that beastiality may be OK because we eat them with out their consent. There is no logic to thinking beastiality is OK.....period.
