Why is religious scripture(s) believed to be real, but not...
other old(er) fictional stories?

What made the religious scriptures appealing in that sense, while other fictional stories of the time were always understood to be fiction or myth?

What distinguished religious scriptures from other such works of literature?

Because it's a collection of different stories, some poetry, some "historical" etc., and delusional people insist it's true.

Check out my atheism blog. It's just a blog, no ads, no revenue, no gods.

But why do they think one fictional story is true over another?

Because of religious cults which brainwashes you into thinking that its real and most of religious stories are somewhat derived from older religious myths/legends.

Also you have to remember that in the ancient times people relied on these stories to make sense of their world and the meaning of life.

Dreams/Hallucinations/delusions are not evidence
Wishful thinking is not evidence
Disproved statements&Illogical conclusions are not evidence
Logical fallacies&Unsubstantiated claims are not evidence
Vague prophecies is not evidence
Data that requires a certain belief is not evidence

Technically it's the form of trolling called "JAQing off".

I think WilHop is right in pegging this troll as a "NOTlookingforanswers" suckpuppy.
