It presumes that no one can have an original thought.

Well, any Christian claiming, that one can't be moral without reading how to be from the bible, is likely to have never read the bible. The writers of scripture didn't even believe this, such as Paul's observation of the Gentiles behaving morally, though they had no book, and concluding from this that morality was written within their hearts, their conscious bearing witness to it, (Rom 2).

If morality was derived from the bible, or even religion per se, the picture here would serve more to validate a godless view of the world, than the existence of God.

The New Testament picture, is not one providing an instruction manual on how to be good, but diagnosis an ailment, a condition that prevents us from being good, declaring a sort of fracture in our relationship with others, and with God, a predicament only solved by something radical and transformative.

Like why don't Christians add new books to the bible, that include new writings that address these various things? Or like why doesn't the old scriptures have foreknowledge of these developments?

I mean doesn't christianity have an entire cottage industry dedicated to churning out works and scriptures addressing a wide variety of things, from finance, to disciplining your children?

If christians even think about touching the Bible--they will end up in god's naughty bucket.

Deut 4:2--Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you.

Well it does say to kill an insolent child (i.e. Leviticus 20:9, Exodus 21:15, Deuteronomy 21:18-21) for various offenses. As for the rest, if it actually did say something about that I'm sure the prescribed atonement would be death if in the OT and shaming/made to feel inferior if in the NT.

And Revelations 22: "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."

So u best not be adding to god's holy words lol

Considering how incompetent god seems to be with telling even his followers what he really wants, I would be more willing to bet he still (at best) uses a Commodore and dot matrix printing.

RE: Why is there no new stuff in the bible?
It's always a thing I've found amusing how some Christians who get how the bible was put together will still say God inspired the authors and inspired the scribes with his word to print... but they have no answer, just ah, I've wondered that too response, when asked. How come God's word isn't inspired to authors now to keep writing new books? Or where are the events of him coming down like he used to?

I'm sure plenty will just say because we are wicked and sinful as if people weren't exactly the same in that regard for all of the last 2000 years and prior by their definitions of sinful.

Then again, there is the Mormon's, so obviously God has planted some gold tablets we just aren't looking hard enough.

Perhaps I should ADD some "new stuff" to the bible then.

Hummm. Consider Letsee...

Thou shalt not drive automatic transmission cars but keep manual shift automobiles in your heart.... as it is god's will. To do otherwise will bring god's wrath. And He will smite all who transgress his law with fiery tire irons. There will be no pity.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Oh, dear god, no! Tongue So many people out there who can't handle the automatics I can't imagine what the roads would be like if they needed to shift and steer and the same time. They might even have to put down the latte or the iphone for a second and we know how inconceivable that is.

Don't worry. God will be their copilot.

In retrospect, they should probably have selected a co-driver, not a co-pilot. ... and also realized that two people driving a car simultaneously is a recipe for disaster.
