Seriously, why would they release the photos before the Arrest?

Because they didn't know where they were. The suspects were located by a security guard not by federal authorities. Thats why they released the photos.

What? They couldn't pick up the phone book and find out?

These guys had been receiving public aid, and one went to a university....it's not like they lived incognitto.

It's not exactly unprecedented to release a picture of a wanted individual before an arrest is made. Have you never been to a post office?

But why do it if you know who the suspects are and where they live? Why warn the suspects that they are about to be arrested?

You wouldn't if you already had them in a net, this goes to show they the authorities did not have either of these 2 in their sights before they released the photos.

That's not what the facts bear out:

The authorities knew who these two suspects were and where they could be found before they released the photos. Why?

The authorities knew who these two suspects were and where they could be found before they released the photos. Why?

Both of those stories are in relation to an incident dealing with the russian anti-terrorism agency. Russia asked the FBI to look into the activities of the elder brother for suspected ties to radical elements. The FBI did so and then asked the russian agency for more information, anything actionable. The Russian's declined to provide any further information as is their tendency, the Russians almost never share information. Without further info or any criminal act, which nether had yet committed, the FBI had to let it drop due to rules of engagement with US citizens.

So just because the feds had a 2 year old file on the suspects did not mean they knew exactly where they were on the night they released the photos.

Because they were on the run. If someone is on the run going back home isn't exactly a smart move. If people know what a suspect on the run looks like it increases the chances of them being found.

Behold the power of the force!

Actually, it appears from witnesses that they just stayed around their homes.
