Winter Olympics
Anyone watching?

I’m watching the men’s team ice skating short performance.

Opening ceremony is tomorrow.

I love the Olympics. I just really appreciate the idea of the world coming together to compete in sporting events.

RE: Winter Olympics
I used to follow the Olympics and am not really sure why I stopped. I may catch a few minutes here or there but I don't know anything about the athletes any more. Undecided

See here they are, the bruises, some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. -JF

I literally only found out about it yesterday. Apparently, I'm not just in a different hemisphere, but in a different world altogether Rolleyes

I prefer the summer ones (more sports) but if I were home and had a TV, would probably see a competition or two...

Being where I am, I'll probably have to make do with carnaval Angel

(Actually, really not my thing. I don't handle crowds very well at the best of times. And places. Loud, horny Brazilian crowds? [Image: help.gif])

Intend to make some nice tacos for the opening ceremonies. I love the world coming together in the arena of sport to fight out differences, rather than through arms. Also it's going to be neat to see the Korean teams walk in under a unified banner instead of as separate nations.

Need to think of a witty signature.

WOW! ShadowProject! I didn't know that. The things you find out about the people on this forum.

I love the figure skating too but I became fascinated with the speed skating events. There's an African American girl who's about 18 who is a speed skater and I'm hoping she does well. It's the short track event.

I like the downhill too. The Winter Olympics is all about speed over snow and ice so everyone is going super fast..........

........well, except for the Curling event. That's like watching paint dry. Rolleyes

RE: Winter Olympics
I'm planning on watching them. Smile Er, well - I'd like to catch figure skating, the skiing events (like the jumps and slalom type stuff - cross-country skiing is boring), bobsled, luge, and maybe snowboarding and speed skating. Hobo Big Grin

Fun fact, I trained at the same rink as Nancy Kerrigan. No...I never met her Smile

RE: Winter Olympics
Only the figure skating events for me; men's singles, ladies' singles and pairs.

Australia isn't really a winter sport country—for obvious reasons LOL. At the moment we're having temperatures of 110ºF during the day. No skating, luge or skeleton, ice hockey, and only very limited skiing (if any, dependent on our "winter" climate) plus indoor rink skating. Our winter minimums are around 36ºF, and that's a super cold day.

You can check out the Aussie winter "team" HERE for what it's worth. No

Funny, I skated once at the same rink Tonya Harding used to skate at.

It was a kid birthday party, and I didn’t actualy skate much.

The couples figure skating is fun to watch. I keep holding my breath during the lifts and throws.
