World War III
Given the latest hostilities in the Ukraine and Russia, I have been thinking about the possibility of a third world war. What do you guys think, will it happen? If so, when and how will it start? Sleepy

RE: World War III
I don't think so...

I could only see one starting if some batshit crazy republicunt moron got elected and got to have his finger on the button for jebus.

That would be scary.

World War III
Too expensive. Also, a full scale war risks damaging valuable resources. No way they'd let that happen. No profit in it.

RE: World War III
Not in this case - and a WW would probably be a lot more complicated were it to happen as I suspect it would not necessarily be fought along national lines...

RE: World War III
Extreme religious fanaticism could open the flood gates.
As arms dealers become less rigid in weapons sales, this becomes ever more likely.
Reliance on ultra smart weaponry (and ego) may be another factor.

Re: World War III
The world wars were so heavily influenced by nationalism, new political powers, and strangely tied alliances... I really don't see anything like that occurring in this current political climate.

Let's say it did happen. What country would be safe? Canada? Japan? The Netherlands?

Read 'The War That Ended Peace' by Margaret MacMillan to look at this in more depth...

Do you think the political landscape is at all similar to the early 20th century?
