Hi,

The title of this thread is notable today.

Yesterday's NYT story on the Manafort/Russia cash connection is hitting the headlines and the web. Just how are Republican patriots going to deal with a Putin sympathiser at the top of the ticket now that there is hard evidence of deep connection within his campaign team?

Unbelievable, except that its not. ShockingThumbsup

The link: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/15/us/pol...trump.html

From that article:

Quote:And Mr. Manafort’s presence remains elsewhere here in the capital, where government investigators examining secret records have found his name, as well as companies he sought business with, as they try to untangle a corrupt network they say was used to loot Ukrainian assets and influence elections during the administration of Mr. Manafort’s main client, former President Viktor F. Yanukovych.

Handwritten ledgers show $12.7 million in undisclosed cash payments designated for Mr. Manafort from Mr. Yanukovych’s pro-Russian political party from 2007 to 2012, according to Ukraine’s newly formed National Anti-Corruption Bureau. Investigators assert that the disbursements were part of an illegal off-the-books system whose recipients also included election officials.

[...]

Anti-corruption officials there say the payments earmarked for Mr. Manafort, previously unreported, are a focus of their investigation, though they have yet to determine if he actually received the cash. While Mr. Manafort is not a target in the separate inquiry of offshore activities, prosecutors say he must have realized the implications of his financial dealings.

“He understood what was happening in Ukraine,” said Vitaliy Kasko, a former senior official with the general prosecutor’s office in Kiev. “It would have to be clear to any reasonable person that the Yanukovych clan, when it came to power, was engaged in corruption.”

Mr. Kasko added, “It’s impossible to imagine a person would look at this and think, ‘Everything is all right.’”

Make The Donald's admiration of Putin, and his consideration of a pullback from our NATO obligations, look a little funny.

Thump,

You're right, its the fit between Trump's sympathies and the Manafort dealings that gives the story real punch. This is something for the Dems to work with, if Trump even gets to November.

Stereotype spotted ITP.

I stand by my stereotype. When they start talking about operating busses to get more minorities to vote, it can be safely assumed these are the non-working welfare types. At the very least uncomfortably retired. The ones that don't possess cars or other methods of getting there. The exact ones that will vote for the crats to try to increase their take of the tax dollars.

Don’t you realize that the Red States are the ones that siphon off the most amount of federal subsidy?

I’ve posted the graphs multiple times but you conveniently ignore them because they don’t bolster your narrative.

Let me post yet another article backing up what I just said above.

"Selfish hypocrisy. How else can you explain the fact that the denizens of the most welfare dependent states in the country—dare we say, those who enjoy the most benefits from socialism—profess to abhor welfare?”

I don’t have any hope that facts will change your mind regarding this point but hey, maybe it will at least make you stop and think.
