Would Finding Alien Life Change Religious Philosophies?

Let's assume the alien life is advanced and not only a microbe, I really wonder how the faithful would receive the news.

Aw you beat me to it!!! Tongue

I hope that the world turns, and things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that, even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you. - V for Vendetta

First they would deny it until it became untenable then they would find a quote from their mad libs book and claim they were correctly prophesied.

I don't think it would change a thing for anyone. The religons would be split between three main categories.

1. It's another planet, God didn't tell us about them ( or someone would misconstrue a passage or two to make it "look" like the bible said stuff about Aliens all along ) because their existence is not important enough for us to know about. They have nothing to do with us ( or Satan kept the secret from us somehow.....lol )

2. They are all going to hell for what Adam did 4000 years ago. So why the fuck should we care?

3. They are not aliens, they are Agents of SATAN and we must fucking kill them.

If aliens touched down and greeted us officially, it would not take long for retards to attack them and piss them off to the point of the aliens wiping our entire species out, just like in the movies.

DAMN IT! I got beat to the Ken Ham thing....DAAAAAAMMNNN!

Oh well. Smile

If microbial life were discovered, I'd bet their first response would be "but that's not life Hobo " .... Yet somehow a tiny bundle of cells in my body without consciousness does qualify as "life" Dodgy

I am pretty sure that most of them would agree that the microbes we find are going to be considered life, or at least a type of it if your a creationist or whatever.

They at least acknowledge that much for the most part.

I hope.
