RE: Would You Want There to Be a God?
I'd want the Norse/Greek pantheons, to chill out in Valhalla/Elysium, with the option to end existence once I got bored with it.

I think you have to die with a battleaxe buried in your skull to go to Valhalla...

Incidences of death by battleaxe have declined steeply since the invention of the electric guitar, so it might not be an option.

If you have a preference, what religion?

I think I would want there to be one. I don't know if that makes me weak, but it would be extremely comforting to know that no matter what you do, there's someone who is going to work things out for you. It's also very comforting to know that when you die, you don't really die. At the same time, there's so many implications of there being a god that I think there being one and me knowing would drive me insane. Every time I saw something bad happen would just make me hate life more and more. I think in the end, I would choose for there not to be, but it would be an extremely difficult decision.

It would depend on the nature of said god. Something on the literal Abrahamic model? BAD! Something on the touchy-feely liberal don't-really-know-or-think-about-the-faith Christian model? .... maybe, but I can't do the whole "don't think about it" thing. Cthulhu? Bring the dude on, we've got the technology to beat him.

..... how is it that the spell-check chokes on "Abrahamic" but has "Cthulhu" in its dictionary?

Hmm no! that would mean that i have to rationalize all the suffering and evil in the world.

Dreams/Hallucinations/delusions are not evidence

Logical fallacies&Unsubstantiated claims are not evidence
Vague prophecies is not evidence
