My first two books are adult comedies. Mr. Undesirable is about a guy who wins the lottery and sets out for revenge:

Lenny Kapowski is a dirt poor, foul mouthed, porn addicted, binge drinking, malcontent. Life has spent fifteen solid years of kicking him when he was down and he has never done anything to change his lot. But, in one lucky moment, Lenny wins a giant lottery jackpot, and he finally sees the path to his redemption. For Lenny, redemption comes in the form of revenge on the man he blames for his life’s woes, Dr. Wayne Stevens.

In high school, Lenny was to take the doctor’s daughter to the Senior Prom, but at the last second her father put a stop to that idea. At a pre-Prom gathering in the exclusive planned community of Rambling Hills, Dr. Stevens forbade Lenny from taking his daughter to the Prom and humiliated the young man in front of his classmates and their parents. The doctor simply would not have his only daughter associating with such-- undesirables.

Now pushing thirty, Lenny is a very rich man. Still, after a life with no focus or drive, what good is all that money? Lenny’s only goal is to reap his vengeance on Dr. Stevens and the residents of the snobbish Rambling Hills Community. Along with his best friend, Norm Grubnik, and his attorney/terrorist, Calvin Greenlee, Lenny sets out on a plan to topple the doctor’s ivory tower. Lenny will be the vicarious champion for the downtrodden. The elitist’s worst nightmare. White trash with cash. Lenny will be the worst thing they could ever imagine.

He will be their neighbor.

The current book I'm promoting is called Picking On Retards:

We are most shaped by the things that we are ashamed of.

Ronald “Butcher” Blake is The Man when it comes to high school football in 1988. With the other heroes of the undefeated Mims High School Mustangs he is one of the elite. The untouchable. That is until he takes it upon himself, while showing off for his teammates, to assault and frighten a mentally disabled boy in the hallway at school. Letting the punishment fit the crime, the principal and his coach devise an ingenious way of teaching Butcher a lesson. He won’t be suspended from school or kicked off the team, provided he agrees to one stipulation.

Butcher Blake will be the new bodyguard for the boy, Ethan Miles.

The rest of the Mustangs, however, don’t like losing their partner in crime to “some retard” and they do all they can to make life even harder on Butcher and his new charge. Led by Derek Skyler and his personal Goon Squad, the remaining members of the team, and even Butcher’s girlfriend, launch an effort to wreck the new arrangement.

No longer elite and no longer untouchable, Butcher begins to see that there is more to life than just football. A realization that he fights every step of the way.

Picking On Retards is a novel about the hardest lessons we learn. The ones about ourselves.
That's what I'm talking about.

RE: Writers?
Well, as I've said before, my name is based on my own character, he is a mean sadistical bastard on the outside with a dark sense of humor and a serious attitude problem, always smiling even in the worst situation, and having fun with the worst times, but considers himself "selfrighteous" because he only hunts (literally hunts) the ones he considers "bad guys" (even when he should be considered as such too), he is the Joking Reaper, but I've been unable to publish his story because it is in progress still, and I've not found the time to finish it.

I do some graphic novel stuff I put on a comic site. http://themercenary.thecomicseries.com
is one. If you like that one there is a longer one http://challengeofthegoylegar.thecomicseries.com. To flip the pages you have to hit the side arrows. Something for a rainy afternoon.

RE: Writers?
I used to write a lot more than I currently do. I have had lofty aspirations to become a world renowned writer my whole life. But then I realized two things: I lack patience, and I favor genres that typically see no time on the charts. Oh and I'm not terribly good at it. So I began writing short stories while putting any ideas for a novel into my computer for later. I enjoy writing short stories quite a bit as it is easier and harder at the same time. It's instant gratification. I haven't even attempted getting anything published because I'm too critical of myself. Anyways welcome to the forum hope you enjoy your stay.

RE: Writers?
I've written hundreds of songs, and a few short stories. I have currently 3 lengthy novels in making here in this computer. Have no idea what I'll do with them when they're done yet. Probably put them somewhere to get some free recognition.

I have entertained the thought of 'real' publication, but I want some serious feedback on my works first. My first love is music, and I'm currently writing my next CD's songs, and doing preliminary recordings in my home studio. I may have it out on "RevebNation" sometime this fall. I haven't even built my website there yet, though I do have an account.

After that, I plan to go back to the novels for a while. I do add things to them when stuff pops into my mind. That's why they are in my primary computer.

Blasphemy fan, we've got that in common. I'm primarily a musician who writes books, even though I'm often perceived the other way around.

RE: Writers?
The only writing projects that I actually finish are essays on historical people, events, and literature. As for stories, I am constantly coming up with ideas, but I almost never finish writing them out from beginning to end. My stories mainly deal with history, sci-fi, or mythology. I’ve been working on one novel for the last 12 years or so. I can’t say I’ve been “writing” it for all of that time because the plot has changed so much over the years, making it difficult to type out a single page. It started out as a fantasy akin to Lord of the Rings, but now it is a historical travel log à la Ibn Battuta. It’s really just been an excuse for research into my favorite historical subjects. My research drives the direction the novel heads in.

RE: Writers?
For as young as I am, I've always had a passion to day dream. Music, poetry, writing, media - it all feeds my imagination. I could lay in bed for hours, listening to music that probably wouldn't appeal to most people, just daydreaming about what I've created in my mind. Music is particularly what motivates my ideas. I've tried to actually write these things down, but so many new things come about, that I usually end up having to start over (not completely, but to make numerous changes.) D:
I would, however, like to be a writer, editor, or designer (art related) of sorts one day. ^-^

This is writing. Big Grin

I guesstimate that the total length of The Book of Gwynnite, a rough draft of sorts speculating on the nature of religion and the divinity of Gwyneth Paltrow; is in excess of two million words.

And them mighta been more words than you wanted to hear. Wink

The "artist ellenjanuary" is polymath of sorts, and John Cantor is but one aspect - writer of comedic fiction. Writing as "house of cantor" is merely Avatar of expression - which is more love than comedy, strictly speaking. I don't "try to be funny," I'm just absurd. Cool

RE: Writers?
When I'm focused & nothing stressful is on my mind, I write very well.
Most of the time, when I do write, I like to use modern English speech.
Instead of "How are you?", you know I'll use "How art thou?"
Or instead of "Good morning, love", I'll say "Fair dawn to thee, light of my day."
