But the United States is not the Wiemar Republic after the Seminal Catastrophe that was The Great War (WWI). WWI had destroyed all of the old absolute monarchies that existed beforehand, including the nascent rule of the Kaisers of Germany. The Wiemar Republic that replaced it was almost instantly delegitimatized by it's signing of the Treaty of Versailles, and the massive war reparations that it saddled the already collapsed German economy. Germany was a hotbed of extremism of all flavors, running the gamut from anarchists to communists. Things got so bad that the Republic itself eventually reached out to Hitler and his National Socialists in order to protect themselves from said anarchists and communists, because they were perceived as the least terrible option.

The devil is in the details. The surrounding context, the geopolitical reality faced by the current United States is a far cry from the anemic and fractured Wiemar Republic being beset on all sides after losing the most costly war in history (to that time, only surpassed by WWII). Trump lost the popular vote, and won through a quirk of the electoral college and the electorate's general apathy with a democracy that can effectively run itself (and has done so) for decades. We did not rally around Trump to save us from roving bands of anarchists and communists, under the shadow of economic collapse; regardless of how much he tried to fear monger his way into office. Trump will not be made Chancellor or F├╝hrer. That's not to say that we drop our guard, only that we recognize the situation for what it actually is, and not what we fear it to be.

I have read online that there are bookies making book as to how long the USA as it has been will stand under T Rump. Without T Rump trying to dissolve congress or something as absurd. No no two points in history are alike no matter how many times people wish to quote "Those who don't pay attention to history will repeat it.

But deporting 11 million Latinos and another 10 million Muslims will be kind of equivalent.

Well if you live on a planet where T Rump's behavior is OK then apparently not.

sure. I hope there are no mas deaths under Trump, I really do, but to compare his election to the entirety of WWII, with between 50 and 80 MILLION dead, is unbelievable.
I really have no more to say on the subject. KUSA has been warming up a bit lately. Gilgamesh, he can be funny at times.

But would you bet real money that that isn't what we will experience in the near future? I have money down that we will see that tpe of thing before his first term is over. And also that we won't have another election in 4 years.

It must not have been too bad if you forgot already.

You must be quick to judge. You don't even give me a chance.
