Yellowstone
So... how bad is it, really?

When it erupts, is it going to have a lot of destruction? Will the park be gone? I'm assuming Old Faithful will cease to exist as well.

I know it's supposed to be one of the top 3 volcano eruptions in history. I mean, is it just going to wipe Yellowstone off the map?

RE: Yellowstone
I have friend who's a vulcanologist who says it could in theory destroy most of north America within a short amount of time and influence adversely weather patterns around the world.

That gave me nightmares.

RE: Yellowstone
Ummm... not good.

That's actually pretty disconcerting. Can we do anything about it?

Should we pray? Big Grin

Just kidding, couldn't help it.

On a serious side, I don't know if there is anything that can be done.

RE: Yellowstone
To actually reply to the topic. Yes, when I learned about this I was surprised and a bit scared. Especially since nothing can really be done, and the date of eruption is unknown, but approaching. However, I've coped pretty well by not thinking about it Big Grin.

Nope.

Even if you stockpiled food and water, eventually you'd run out. It could take decades for some areas to begin to recover.

We know that from the effects of other volcanoes that have erupted and they were far smaller by comparison.

Wild shit when you think about it....I prefer not to tho.

RE: Yellowstone
You could make good evacuation plans to make it through the first stages and then try to cope as you go. Maybe some sort of treaty with mexico and canada to allow refugees or some kind of assistance
