Yes, Virginia, there are atheists in Texas
Went to the movies the other night and I spotted a guy wearing the scarlet A (Out campaign) t-shirt. Never thought I'd see the day! lol I mean, this is the town that booed Bill Nye. Bill-fucking-Nye! And yet I saw a guy with a scarlet-A tee on. It warmed the cockles of my evil little heart... Evil_monster

Anyway, just thought I'd share. And, just for fun: when (if ever) have you guys spotted fellow atheists in places you'd least expect to find them?

YES THERE ARE, but not enough.

I'm holding it down for Laredo the best I can. Thumbsup
I have a couple atheist T's that turn heads, lol.
It gets people thinking, and I enjoy the scowls.

Atheist.

Are you sure it's a A for atheism and not the A for Alabama?

Considering atheism in this country it'd be rarer to see a hardcore theist then any other form of religious/non-religious person.

You made me double-check myself, but after looking at the Alabama (I assume you mean the university, yes?) "A" and the scarlet "A" used in the Out Campaign, I'm convinced it was the latter.

Ha - yeah. I'm really wanting to get a "Turtles all the way down," shirt myself, both for the message and because I love turtles. And the more atheists in Texas, the better. Everyone talks about God and religion so much that you really start to think you're alone and seeing that guy in the "A" tee helped make me feel the opposite.

So to me, even if the theists out there don't "get" what an atheist shirt is talking about (like the turtles thing, perhaps) another atheist most likely would. And if it's a closet atheist, just maybe it'd help them come out - understand that there are others of us out there.
